Christian Eriksen

Wow, that's incredible. From the sadness/shock of Eriksen collapsing, it's inspiring to know that such things are possible.
Yeah Daley blind has a defrib
So does shaking Steven’s (random I know but when my mate fitted it, he was his most famous patient)
Hearts are so manageable now with the science

While there's a cheap joke in there somewhere, it would be in extremely bad taste to make it.

I really hope that this doesn't end Eriksen's career. He was an incredible player for us, but (IMHO) suffered from the same problem as Poch in the end. His heart just wasn't in it any more. Pun definitely not intended.

While I'll be rooting for Denmark as the tournament progresses, he's such a major player for them that I can't see them going very far.

Can't remember where I heard it, but yesterday or today I'm sure I heard a doctor mentioning that the Italians are stricter around health controls relating to cardiac issues and so Eriksen may not be allowed to play again in Serie A, even if he seems to recover.
Of course there's speculation regarding what the precise cause of this issue was, but it's stark to hear that Italian regulations may forbid him from coming back to Inter

Isn't that just crazy, that a professional athlete can be running around with a heart condition and a built in defib ready to revive him it his heart gives out again
He didn't suffer from a heart attack/cardiac arrest though, but rather and infection in the heart, causing irregular heart beats. Totally different to what happened with Eriksen.

The heart is a pump
It’s a pump starter basically
The actual tech is simple
The way they use it though is amazing
My mates fits them and pace makers
He is working on one that once it trigger sends data to an app that calls someone

I don't mean to be insensitive, or anything, my dad's got one. But I've always been curious to what happens the day a fellow who has one of these in his chest really kicks the bucket.
Will the device keep firing untill someone "unplugs" it, or it runs out of battery?

No idea TBH
I’ll ask my mate

The thing goes on firing. The doctors normally turn it off as the patient weakens. Apparently it’s quite painful.

Here you go

Allo mate… ICDs (implantable define) will only deliver 6 to 8 (depending on manufacturer) therapies in a row. So if a patient dies before the device is switched off, it’ll deliver 6 shocks only and then do nothing else. But remember, they only shock rhythms that are extremely fast and coming from the main pumping chambers. So if the patients heart stops, it won’t shock them. Most of them also have pacing (delivering small amounts of energy to make the heart contract like a normal pacemaker), and will continue to do so after death. But if the heart is dying or already dead, pacing it won’t do anything either. Basically they abort sudden cardiac death, but if the patient is dying it won’t prevent them from dying.

This is a video of Anthony Van Loo who has an ICD in situ. He has an episode of sudden cardiac death which the ICD shocks him out of

Thanks for the info. That video is insane!

Cheers, @Bedfordspurs. The kind of exchange above is one of the reasons I love this place.
No probs
I’ll sound like a dingdong here but I know so many people through work, the band and football that it’s become a joke with my mates
I’ve got a friend who is trying to make a bottle top table. He wants unique ones so everyone has to be different. I messaged a girl I know in wales and she sent over 20 new ones from her locks brewery’s… he was like a kid in a sweet shop
But back on thread, the video seeing the guys leg move as the machine kicked in is amazing. The etch just does it’s job and if it’s meant to be he is ok

Truly incredible what they can do now. Watching Eriksen on the pitch, the other thing I thought was how incredible the doctors and medics are - same as when we all watched Muamba at WHL, thinking he was gone but somehow survived. I can't really articulate it, but with the pandemic and the misinformation surrounding it, it's so inspiring to see people just get to work to save someone's life.

It still annoys me that because some Spurs banter/itk idiots decided to make up a rumour about Jan Vertonghen and Eriksen's partner, and Tottenham fans thought it was hilarious so they spread it, that he left the club with every away fan singing "Jan Vertonghen he's shagging your wife" at him.

Are you staying they were not true :mad::mad:
Anything can be spun on the net
People will make up whatever suits them for a laugh
Someone posted pictures of Eriksen at a balcony waving and said I’ve a show hospital. I was taken in by it. Ding even know what they gain in that situation
