Yet we smashed City and Villa who are in the CL and doing very well in it, talk about cherry picking. Yes we have had some bad results, just like almost every club but we have obviously beaten some decent teams otherwise how is it we are still 3 points off top 4....

We are a team that constantly raises our game in the bigger games. Case in point, our Champions League performances were much better than whenever we were in the Europa League.

And against the big 6 teams we have as many good performances against them ( not necessarily the result always) as we do bad performances vs 'smaller' teams. We oddly behave like a cup side without getting over the line and winning the competitions ....

The issue this season IMO with the smaller teams has been that Europa game before
We shall see how that pans out Sunday when we play a team who also have played mid week

The results so far look like what we are. Largely a decent side, which is why we are so inconsistent in terms of results and performances. Some games will go out way and some won't. We don't make it easy because we are quite easy to play against imo.

I think the overriding thought is... it's almost impossible to predict an outcome of any given game week to week.

Injuries are not a valid excuse for anyone. Injuries happen it's the nature of the sport. If you aren't good enough top win with injuries then sadly you just aren't good enough when push come to shove.

FUTURE proofing the team (and assuming all the 'punt's end up as Bales or Modrics) instead buying to compete NOW..still our favourite type of operation, eh...We can't then expect those who are ambitious for NOW to stay or even come if that's our constant approach..

Our lack of future proofing at the end under Pochettino and under Mourinho and Conte is what got us into this mess in the first place.

I don't think many fans are expecting all the "punts" to end up like Bale or Modric. But between Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Yang, Moore and the other academy lads I think it's fair to expect a couple of first team starters, a couple of squad players wile hoping that one of them ends up as another Bale or Modric.

We have to do well enough short term, and Ange has to. Time will tell on that one. I think he can, I don't know if he will.

We might even have a Solanke on our hands like Klopp did. He took the £19m, set him free and only spoke nice words about him.

With 15-20 kids rated highly in our U21 group, you'd like to think we'll make a few quid on the ones that don't quite make it.
