Brennan Johnson

23 is not young in football terms. He's entered the middle stage of his career. Now is when he makes his mark or not.
Fergie’s first United team each had a couple of league titles under their belts by that age.

Not sure why people are pushing the "only 23" argument, he's not some fresh faced kid he's had 6 years as a pro and 4 as a Welsh international.
23 is still pretty young, as a footballer and as a human being. But it's totally irrelevant how old he is, how hard he has or hasn't been working, whether he's good enough etc no one deserves the abuse he's been getting. I haven't seen it but i can well imagine it contains various degrees of racism too. fudging sick that anyone regardless of team they like thinks they can do that to someone but especially someone who wears the shirt of the team they supposedly support

I hope on saturday, the fans who are lucky enough to be there show him the support he deserves

Simple to most folks i guess, he is still young and most players are still improving at that age.

He is sill an adolescent in terms of brain development, and however much experience he has the absolute facts of the maturation process have to be considered.

Look mate, it does not matter whether he is 17, 23 or 33, if you repeatedly get vile personal abuse on your social media by fans of the club you play for, players will find it demoralising. I guess all clubs have their share of scum and fukwits.

They aren’t fans
They are just hanger onners who follow the club just to complain
They quickly hide away when things are good and reappear when it’s not
they probably sit at home in their paints bashing their keyboards like apes

I don’t agree with the “he’s only 23” if it’s on footballing terms; that’s heading into prime of career territory. However, no 23 year old should have to take the levels of abuse being heaped on him on social media. Then again, nor should any player at any age.

I’d love to hear “there’s only one Brennan Johnson” ringing out around the ground on Saturday.
We expect players to step up. Well sometimes that’s our job as supporters.

100%. The stick he has been getting from some of our "fans" is a disgrace. Don't they understand that they are directly negatively impacting the team by targeting a player with abuse like that? Vile stuff. It would be lovely if the stadium sang his name!

Nah he couldn’t take the pressure and would shut the bed … about time he mans up and uses his talent and focus on the task in hand

Ah yes. The old “Man-up”, the solution to all men’s problems.

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of additional support if it helps a player do exactly what you want to see - using his talent and focusing. It’s in all our interests, shirley.
