Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

I do wonder if Conte might have talking about Romero re 'selfishness'...
The useless 'flick' he did near our goal that nearly led to Bournemouth making it 3-1 before Danjuma's goal, the constant yellow cards and then reds based on getting into needles/battles with opposition players e.g. vs Hernandez of Milan...i can see how Conte could view that as him being 'selfish' and getting the team into unnecessary hardship situations...

I wouldn't call Romero selfish. Brainless at times, maybe, but he has been doing the work of two defenders in most games. To be honest I don't even know what would make a player selfish. The only thing I can think of is a forward player continuously shooting from bad positions when there are better options available, but other than that I'm drawing blanks.

It looks like he doesn't enjoy playing so much these days. Better body language and more focused when Royal and Bentancur were around. At times we look liked we had the best right side when bringing the ball out from defence. Not the same with Porro but these connections take time.

A player that doesn’t help the team, that doesn’t work hard off of the ball and instead only looks to play for themselves. They don’t care about the results of the team but are happy to continue picking up a sizeable salary.

Half of which you can't know for sure TBH.

No, but Conte working closely with them each day, with expectations on what the player will do and an understanding of the player’s capabilities which is beyond that which we can know, will likely have a good idea if players aren’t giving 100%. The biggest question is why did he keep playing the same players if he clearly had issues with one or more of the first team.

And if he was saying that the team were performing beneath themselves then he had to look at himself too as that shows he wasn’t performing to his best in the role.

In that case, not Romero. (which was what the original poster implied)

I called for Poch in Jan and for Conte to go.

Now watching this terrible Milan team en route to next CL round. Could and should have been us

I don't know about that. Milan played exactly the same style as we would have played (defend deep and counter), but I doubt we would have been able to execute it as well. Even more so with our injuries to Davies, Lenglet, Royal, and Sess (who I think is pretty solid defensively).
