Antonin Kinsky

The problem is beyond his slip and poor control for the 3rd which is unusual for him, as he genuinely does have good feet he's a pretty poor shot stopper. Picking him, even in sympathy would just be a poor decision especially after the first leg.

I agree the 3rd was a technical fudge up that comes from lack of game time. If we played a RB last night that has only played 1 game all season and he slipped like that and then miskicked the ball, we would be annoyed but not writing his career off

Does he pull his hand away from one of the goals? That and the gift, shades of Grobbelaar.

I noticed that as well, but I don’t think it’s a “Grobblaar” special, more that he is genuinely a terrible shot stopper.

It’s amazing that anyone with half a brain would want to choose him over Vicario, who undoubtedly also has his issues but is levels clear of where Kinksy is.

He should've been loaned out in January and an experienced keeper brought in. Yet more terrible squad management at THFC.

Vicario has been poor for most of the season and yet still the manager didn't bring Kinksy in, either because the manager knows he is too inexperienced or knows that he simply isn't good enough. Yet we have gone into the second half of the season with no real alternative option.

I have heard quite a few pros and ex pros say that it takes a certain type to be a back-up goalkeeper. You don't really get any competitive games so it is hard to switch on when you do. That is often why back-up keepers are older, experienced ones who can draw on that experience when having to come in to play having not had any first team football for a while. Kinsky needs to be playing and developing somewhere IMO, he and his agent should be demanding that. He is too young and is (or at least was) considered too talented to have his career stunted as a back-up.
Quite a few of us wanted us to get Kelleher. It was criminal we didn't get him considering the price.

I'm not writing his career off due to the performance. Like you I was a keeper also to a decent level. I'm just not convinced by his brick stopping in general, he never seems to get his spread right, a lot of shots appear quite savable to me at times. If you look at the first goal as an example of you see the behind the shooter angle you see the brick was within reach, he just never actually put his hand all the way out. That's where I'm concerned about him and this isn't the first time I've noted it.

It would be the equivalent of a RB not clearing the ball when it's right in their path, rhythm or rhythm those are kind of the basics. I even said in the match thread when we saw the lineup that it's risky picking him and when people on here had been calling for Vicario to be dropped I pointed the problem was Kinsky was the alternative.

We should have loaned him out in the summer and signed an experienced keeper as backup to Vicario.

I personally wanted to see Kinsky play even though I knew there would likely be issues. I just don’t think Vicario is fit for purpose.
