Antonin Kinsky

As rating systems go, I think WhoScored is one of the best based on the amount of things they assess per player and how many years they've been smoothing their algorithms. It's not like the press who just give a player an 8 for a goal and 5 for making a mistake. Their ratings really are tosh.

I just think Ange will throw Kinsky at Rob Burch and then integrate him into the team training sessions before he'll get anywhere near the team. Both Ange and Rob will take their time to assess his readiness. Obviously, one key deadline is when that UEFA squad needs naming, if we get through.
I agree it's better than the newspapers.

I really have no idea, mostly just saying that I think it's possible that he starts against Liverpool.
At the risk of being pessimistic, I hope he doesn't play against Liverpool. Could be shattering for his confidence if the game unfolds like last time we played them.
If there's a real risk that a poor performance against Liverpool would be shattering for him probably best not to start him. That's the kind of thing I'd hope the coaches have a decent idea of before making a decision.

Based on interviews and his playing style he seems a confident young man.

We didn't just buy Thibaut Courtois. We bought a 21 year old rookie playing in a Czech league that has potential. I had a look on Whoscored and his EL match ratings this season have been between 5.6 and 6.8, with the average at 6.2. Poor old Bissouma and Bentancur get bashed for having an average in the PL of 6.7.

In my mind, there is no justification to throw him straight in. He needs to earn his place and operate in a meritocracy.

- He's got 102 games as a keeper at 21
- Of all goalkeepers in Europe's top 10 leagues, Kinsky ranks top for save percentage (83.3 per cent), goals conceded per 90 minutes (0.37) and clean sheets (12, joint with Diogo Costa) after setting a new Slavia record of keeping 12 clean sheets in 19 games so far this term, conceding just seven times.
- It's clear this is a data driven buy with pretty strong indicators along with a style alignment (seems he's very good with feet)

I don't think this is a "punt"

Not sure I used the word punt.

When Brad joined, Harry threw him straight in. He didn't need to earn his place and Gomez was treated like crap. For me Brad was a safe keeper, never left his line, never went into dangerous situations and never put himself in a position where he could possibly be blamed for the goals. He cost us loads though, especially the bottom corners.

When Hugo joined he was a French international and rated as one of the best keepers in the world. He had to sit on the bench and earn his place over Brad. Obviously, that didn't take long, but it set the right precedent at the club.

Kinsky could be the next Neuer for all I know. He still needs to earn the right to pull on the jersey. He is 21 and has come from a poor league. We need to protect him.

There is a difference though.

Kinsky is fighting for that starting spot over Austin, not Forster or Vicario at the moment.

Who ever we play of those 2, it could be shattering for either of them.

Just go for who is the better option.
May be that he's competing with Forster too depending on fitness/illness. But I think your point stands.
