I agree the buy in could be really important. And I want him to stay. But I do also think that both keeping him and letting him go can be understood as rational decisions.
And therein lies the problem.

Once again, we find ourselves (as evidenced by the fans), in a divisive position. Pitting ourselves against each other once again. Understanding that you can attach rational thinking to either avenue is not something most football fans can do.

Why does ETH keep getting mentioned? They have got statistically WORSE since he left, all that does is show getting rid of a manager that has won you something for a shiny new toy doesn't guarantee anything....
It takes time to turn around a sinking ship. They've appointed some who will improve them, not keep ramming that iceberg

To be fair, on the other side of the spectrum, he's been compared with Ferguson. Comparisons will be comparisons...

The one caveat with them is the manager didn't want to come in when he did, his hand was forced

He wanted the summer to drill the players

Which shows how tough it can be to get good managers in during the season

United are also a toxic club, I'm not sure how signing another toxic little bitch in Cunha helps

Yes of course, and he could well end up making them a success who knows. Just like right now we don't know if Ange could build on his success or not. But to use ETH as an example right now is pointless, when they are worse off now than when they got rid of him. It does not prove anything....

I think all situations and circumstances are clearly different so comparing one with another is a fools game.

I suppose it could be argued that it shows how difficult it can be to sack a manager mid-season and turn things around.

I think Amorim will do well with them, but he needs a summer to begin to really sort the issues. He didn’t want to come when he did for that very reason, iirc?

Tbf Poch is a great man manager who has a consistent record of improving players. We have a load of young promising players who I think would thrive under him, including some of the ones mentioned above.
Do you want improved players or wins though, or maybe both? Ange may not be perfect but he's shown consistently through his career wherever he has been that he can win trophies, and the way that Bergvall, Gray, Moore and Udogie are advancing right now you'd have to say he improves players too.

This week was the 19th competition he's won, and he's six years older than Poch, who has won 3. Now you can say what you like about the level those competitions were at, but you can only beat what's in front of you, and he does, over and over again. He knows the DNA required to win competitions, and backs himself to win and build a club to do that.

Please don't misunderstand me, I've found the league form awful to watch this season, but I am still able to be objective about how many games we have lost due to injuries, and how many due to what now has been shown to be a laser focus on the Europa league.

Ange deserves 2025/26, at least the first 10-15 games at a minimum, to see if what he says comes true, that things improve. He said he'd win in season 2 and has, so we have no reason not to believe he can turn this cup form and approach towards the league.

Whoever is the manager though, there's a lack of depth in the team which makes rotation almost impossible at the back across the midfield and up top. We are not able to rotate Solanke, Maddison, Kulu and Romero without a huge drop off in performance.

I think the point with ETH is that United let the post FA Cup win emotions change their mind over sacking him that summer and ultimately nothing changed/improved with him staying
Quite

There is a danger of Ignoring x amount of league performances because of 7 games AZ/ Frankfurt / Bodo / Final

Moore rarely plays. He didn’t even get the nod yesterday over players that were possibly still drunk. It’s therefore difficult to assess his progress.

Yes of course, not saying he has gone backwards but where is the 'progressing nicely' that the OP refers to with him?

Considering we routinely play badly/get deservedly beat there's little evidence of progress with any of our players.

Club have to be strong and change the manager now. Celebrate Postecoglou thank him, let him leave on a high and take on a new manager with Mason staying on to help the transition.

Love Postecoglou but too many details are missing.

For those who think he should stay, I’d point to things like the way we so poorly contest opposition throw ins. At this level it’s so weak. This is just a simple example, but all manner of details like this missing. Is Ange going to fix them all when he hasn’t so far?

Very charitable there, I'd say only Bergvall has shown an upwards curve of improvement out of those 4.
Gray played out of position at centre half for most of his season in a league he's not played in, and has not improved?

Udogie has been backed and come on since he got clear of injury, and is unplayable at times.

Bergvall is flourishing by the month, a kid who if fit would have started the EL final.

Moore was given minutes, scored, had a quite serious spell out ill and becomes the youngest winner of the EL.

Where's the charity, sorry?

Because out of those 4 only Bergvall is showing signs of improving - Gray & Udogie are getting regular games but not looking better than when they came in to the team and Moore has barely played so there's no saying one way or the other with him.

To further this thought, why on earth would you stick with him after the League Cup semi, after Everton, after Leicester and all of the other defeats, giving him a chance to win the Europa League…only to go and fire him after he actually does it?

Why would you do it knowing how much the squad loves him? After seeing player after player show and speak of their affection for him?

It would be absolutely fudging macaronic from Levy.

He still has the players and that’s huge. He has also delivered a trophy and we all know what that’s meant for us as fans and as club as a whole.

But 17th and 22 league defeats just can’t be ignored or dismissed. Nor can the fact that results are trending downward sharply. In all other circumstances he should be fired, no question no doubts.

But… we are Europa League champions… and with that I think what he has earned is a conversation with upper management about what he intends to do to stop the catastrophic league form.

and for them to consider keeping him, his answer has to contain in one shape or another all of the below:

“other managers adapted to my system and here is the new system I will use to counter balance that”

“I didn’t think we could implement this new style mid season and also go for the cup”

“but given a full preseason with this new system and You signing X for me”

“we will once again be humming”

“also I believe when other managers will adapt to it by doing this that and the other, but here is how we will counter balance that”

Then maybe it’s worth taking a risk sticking with him in to the new season - as getting another manager is a risk anyway.

Udogie has been one of our best players the last six weeks - he's been brilliant and far more impactful than he has been previously.

If you haven't seen the improvement in Gray as he's played out of position then again, bit sure what you're watching.
