What I want, and what the tidal wave of football brings, are most likely two different things right now. He needs time IF we are prepared to FULLY back him.

Why would we?

- 42% win rate in his tenure
- A PL record number of games first goals conceded in a calendar year
- Worse calendar year since 2008 in league
- More losses than anyone but bottom four
- Failing against the worse sides in the league
- Plays a style that is literally breaking our players

If I read this whole thread, the only argument to keep him is

- Swapping managers bad
- We can't attract another manager
- Our squad is worse than Ipswich, Wolves, etc so this is our level
- No manager can do better

It just doesn't stand up

Control the game? Thats just noise without the ‘how’. Every player is on empty. I’m sure they want to keep possession, but it’s not a GHod given right.

Other teams are entitled to muster a ‘hard working’ 20 minutes. That’s when you defend tight and graft.

We kept 2nd half big chances to basically zero. Pretty sure that is controlling the game to a degree.
That's one of the problems

I voted in. But the more games that go by, unfortunately, the more I think he is out of his depth. He usually turns things around in his second season. That’s not happening any time soon though. If our players are knackered by Christmas, it’s only going to get worse as the season progresses. I think he needs to go sooner rather than later.
Honestly think people like you are the problem with the club.

Turns things in his second season????? Where, Japan and Scotland.

Home games against Palace, Ipswich, wolves and Fulham possible 12 points but we got 2.

That's relegation form.

Mate go rewatch the game, literally in the first play of the game we lose the ball high and Wolves counter in a 3 on 3 type play.

You don't get out possessed by Wolves and home and get to say you kept chances down, you gave them the ball

Could have started Werner in place of Son, can't recall when Son went off think it was 60 but was effectively 60 wasted minutes as he did absolutely nothing.

Dorrington has been at the club longer than Gray, why doesn't he try something different and put Gray in his preferred position, and put Dorrington at CB?

Agree there's not much else he could do but his style of play is getting worse, none of this quick passing through the middle from defenders anymore, just sideways backwards football and yet we are still being counter attacked.

He did do a triple sub earlier than expected which was proactive but the guys are out of ideas now and the football is very boring to watch and we don't even look like winning on possession anymore.

As someone said, the stats were better today, but we were playing Wolves. That being said, Wolves looked like a good organised side today, albeit there was some brickhousery in there too.

Seriously, I know Son is struggling, but then you see Werner….its not like you’re asking him to give someone a go who’s knocking the door down.

And Dorrington….what did Dragusin and Gray do wrong? They were both good and limited Wolves to minimal chances. They just happened to take the 2 very low % chances they fashioned.

Ange has got loads wrong over the last couple of months, and I’ve called him out. I’m just not sure today he could have done too much.

Teams who are losing games for long periods often have more possession as the winning team allow it. That is actually managing the game.

And you are allowed to lose the ball and be countered - if not, you’d literally score or at least shoot with every attack.

I won’t go on. It was a tight game. We have a whole bunch of tired players and we tried to squeeze through by letting them have a bit more of the ball. It worked for the most part apart from one shot.

We seemed to have lost our identity. I thought Ange’s teams dominated possession? We used to have 70% all the time and now we don’t. We look lost and it looks like we are just going with the flow. What are we supposed to be doing? Are we a counter attacking team? Front foot? I’m lost.

We adopted another strategy in the second-half especially.
We had four clear chances where any semblance of rotation over the last 5 weeks would've likely seen one at least go in (even if only the pen).

You just want him gone. Fine. But if you really have been reading the reasons why some of us would grit our teeth and stick with it, you'd also have noted the following:

*he has endured an enormous injury crisis which has several knock-ons thus deserves the chance with a fitter squad
*the entire CLUB has been revised and recalibrated to this system of play, so change it now and you could well be starting from scratch across the board
*when we have clicked this season we have absolutely clicked and then some - the promise is huge

I frankly don't expect anything other than disagreement from you, which is fine. We are allowed to have different opinions. Yeah, that's right, different opinions. NOBODY knows the right answer right now. Not me, not you, no-one. A definitive step either way is a gamble. Where you put your money -and why- remains personal choice.

We're an exhausted team.

It’s hard to keep that up with players current energy levels. Hence today we sat off a bit and let them have the ball. Maybe not by design but it was change from the usual.

Apparently some wanted to see Ange change it up - but evidently in my replies, many did not!

I do wonder if the results chasers would be happy if we re-appointed Nuno and played a totally different style to Ange. That’s not aimed at you btw.

I’d be really interested to hear from people about what Ange could have done differently today?

Everyone calling for Son off, which he did. Add that to yet another injury to Udogie, and we end up with pub standard play down the left.

So what could he have done differently?
There are people who having watched the game believe we just 'went for it when 2-1 ip and didn't try to manage the game'...the narrative is getting entrenched...
