We operate a model like any other major club. The scouting and analysis department prepare profiles of players according to a transfer strategy agreed by the sporting director with input from the head coach. The sporting director and head coach discuss the profiles and agree the targets. When deals required to get the players become clear theres a final decision to be made.
Sounds great, nice and simple. At what part of this process are you involved to know exactly how it all works? Tell us more about the dynamic between our chairman, the scouting team and the manager - you know, the fundamentals to everything being aligned. It's not like managers here have ever had an issue with any of this before....

How is it beside the point? You're trying to squash the achievement of Ange and this team winning only our fourth ever European trophy by claiming that managers who didn't win one could have easily.

People who say winning the competition doesn't count because the teams were all brick have quickly becoming the most annoying of all.
I’m not trying to squash it just stating that people who now think he is some kind of messiah and he should be given another year are deluded.

What do I believe that isn't true
I haven't seen anyone on here post he is some kind of messiah
I believe he should be given another season because he won us out first trophy in 41/17 years & given us champions league. That is not being deluded.

I'm not privy to it. Head coaches always have an issue with it when they're under pressure. Its like anything in life: when results are going well there's no issue. When results are going amiss theres always an element of deflection and blame apportion. Ultimately when results are going as badly amiss as they have this season its likely that multiple things are wrong, including recruitment. Ange hasn't worked under an effective sporting management team. I have a question as to whether an effective sporting management team would have appointed him in the first place. They certainly wouldn't have appointed him and given him a team of mostly 30-something coaches from the SPL, championship and Portugal.

This is the way I see it. There were a few people who wanted Ange to stay regardless of the result of the EL final. I don't really understand that, but I respect other people's opinions. What I fail to understand is those who have changed their mind based on a single scruffy goal scored by Johnson. How on earth can this change anyone's mind, after all it doesn't change the fact we just had our worst ever premiership season, and other managers have been sacked after having a far better record.

Er yeah, just a single scruffy goal - nothing else happened in that game, the players just sat on their backside for the rest of the 90 plus minutes. And people wonder why our fanbase is labelled toxic, no matter what the club does or achieves there are always those trying to put the club down....

Not that much happened, but that's not the point. None of it has any bearing on what will happen next season as it was a one off performance. The kind that Postecoglou has said he wouldn't do before it suited his narrative to say something else. Like most things he comes out with.

I’d rather be completely deluded and be let down by my hopes than be so miserable that I’m denigrating the winning of a European cup.

It's only 'talked down' because the win is being used as a trump card for keeping the manager in the job, it's not a sign that anyone is miserable. There is nothing wrong with adding context to winning the tournament in response to that or any other claims being made off the back of it that they disagree with (eg Ange done what other managers haven't etc)

If you or others don't want to hear that context then you should probably stop using it in your reasoning for keeping the manager in his job because it is a perfectly valid line of argument in response to that.

Enjoy the cup win for what it is - the winning of a major European tournament and an end to a long trophy drought - that's reason enough to celebrate and be proud of the achievement.

Did you read his first post?

It's pretty obvious how it works.

What it requires though is for everyone to respect the process, respect the people in the process and value the part everyone plays in that process. That's not to say there could be disagreements and differences of opinion but everyone has to have empathy with each others position/viewpoint.

So Sir, how about I introduce Jose and Conte into that process?

Football Insider is consistently full of utter nonsense (no disrespect to you @Surfless)

All they are doing is jumping on the same train as other media outlets from the past couple of days to get some clicks and hedging their bets. He is most likely going to get dismissed of course, but Football Insider know no more than anyone on this board....

Yeah - there was a discussion regarding Ange winning it where others hadn't which he was adding context to. I think my post covers that?

There was nothing about Ange’s suitability. They said had our previous managers taken the competition seriously, they would have won it as well. We only won the Europa League because our draw was “pretty straight forward.”

You can absolutely see it as an achievement and still want Ange out. I’ve no problem with that. But just own it. Don’t kid yourself that the Europa League win was easy or doesn’t mean anything because of the teams we played.

Because it does change things. Squad was in a rebuild, which is more than just players it’s also about culture. We had to refresh the squad that’s a given but we also had to remove that weight around our necks known as being “Spurs-y” or Dr. Tottenham which without a doubt plays a part for both fans and the club.

Well that tag is gone, the pressure of spurs never winning things is also gone with this group of players. What will that mean going forward? Maybe nothing, maybe Ange has gone as far as he can and it’s time to move on OR maybe we can see how the club/fans/players and management team can progress without that weight and whether we can truly rebuild this club towards the top.

But surely you can see how useless he is. Yeah, he can set up the team to beat third rate sides in the EL, but when he is up against good premiership sides with good managers he hasn't got an clue. It was nice to win a trophy, as it was with Ramos, but it's obvious the man is totally out of his depth. We are now very closely being linked with Thomas Frank, which would be a certain upgrade on what we have. I don't want us wasting the first ten games of the season under Ange only to confirm what we know already

Yeah I get that, the thing I was commenting on is that someone actually plumped for "something is happening" as opposed to "nobody is sure what's going on".

In fairness if Ange is staying the club have no obligation to say anything and thus this is he/isn't he stuff will go on all summer.
