No. It just means we are looking at our options. No deal would be signed. If ange massively turns it around he might be given longer. If not we know who we can replace him with.
It's called planning for the future.

I meant the first line. It’s hard to imagine the season going any worse than it has up until now.

The only way I can see him getting fired is if we go on another similar run but with the majority of our squad available. Anything other than that and he gets another pre-season, another transfer window and another crack at it.

It may be the case that we have a manager in line but they can't or won't join till the summer. So the board have decided to let ange see out the season.

It's speculation. I am surprised he's lasted this long.

Surely it would be the same as player recruitment. You've always got a shortlist of managers that suits your football club. Then when the time comes you try to aggressively close a deal for them. Scott Munn seems like a very organised guy. I'm sure he as a dossier building on a fair few names.

So you think he’ll be sacked for not winning a competition we’ve never won? (No, it’s not the same as the UEFA Cup.) One that we’ve not even taken seriously until now? When was that ever the remit of a Spurs manager?

On the contrary, winning the Europa League would basically guarantee Ange becomes a Spurs legend. He would become only the 3rd manager to ever win a European trophy.

Because the league form under him hasn’t warranted giving him another season or even another quarter or half of a season. What exactly has he done so far to deserve a third season? If the league campaigns were reversed and we finished 5th this season after a 12th place finish last campaign then it would be almost a no brainer that he deserves more time.

It’s very simple: 2/3 months of the season happened without much of the squad. But there’s no point even having the discussion because you’ve decided without any proof that’s he’s at fault for the injuries.

Happy come back to this in August when he’s still in charge.

Ok let me flip the question, what makes you think we won’t have another injury crisis next season given what’s happened both seasons and what happened when Ange was at Celtic? I’m sure it was fine at Celtic when he was 4-0 up against St Mirren at half time and he could afford to take players off after 60 minutes and rotate players more frequently. But he hasn’t shown me he can adapt, manage the squad or reintegrate players into the squad after spells on the sidelines. And that is before you even get into the fact that we are too easy to play against. Even last season with a fully fit back four we regularly conceded 3 and 4 goals.

…this is “regularly?” All of the games we conceded 3 or more last season. 7/41 games? If that’s regular for you then you might want a bit more fibre in your diet.

7 games is a lot. If another manager who you weren’t so fond of managed us and we conceded that many goals you’d think it was a bigger deal. Or put another way, if we conceded 3 goals or more in 7 games per season that is 21 goals. Teams that win the league typically don’t concede more than 35 goals in a season. Now I appreciate we are way off winning the league but that is what we should be aiming for.

In the space of about two weeks we’ve gone from “we’re fcuked, get him out now or we’re getting relegated “ to “how will we handle his sacking after winning the Europa League?”
if there is a tottenham fan who is confident we can win the europa league with this clown in charge, I would love a bit of what he or she have been drinking

It’s just such a difficult one to win. So much more to it than who’s better on paper. I think this is the first time in modern history we’re taking it seriously so we definitely have a chance, but I’m keeping expectations low and hope high.
we took it seriously under Jol and Ramos prior to the CL and under Jose when we got knocked out by Zagreb

if we win it( which i feel isextremly unlikely whilst we have this manager in charge ) it will go down in the records as a third win for us so your statement is incorrect.

just because the format has changed doesn’t mean it’s a completion we have never won.

If aston villa somehow win the champions league this season it will go down as a second win for them.

Brazil, Germany and Italy have won world cups under different formats.

The only thing i would agree with is if Postecoglu did win the Europa league he would be a legend.
however it is extremly unlikely given the evidence of what we have seen in his time in charge that he has the competency to do so.

I agree there's no way Levy is going to sack him if he wins the Europa League. He'd be crazy to do so anyway. Just imagine the backlash if the next appointment turns out to be bust...

Having said that, winning the EL - while a great achievement - would not necessarily change my opinion. What happened at Everton made up my mind. Maybe I'm wrong but I believe there's a very low ceiling in today's football for teams building their success on outrunning their opponents. There's just way too many games for that. A lot of people have been asking for more flexibility from Postecoglou and the only time he tried to move away from comfort zone (I assume he knows his system inside out and he's good at tweaking it), it turned out to be an unmitigated disaster (the first half at Goodison).

To win me over (but then again, I don't think my support makes the slightest difference), he'd have to suprise me with his tactical brilliance and, somehow, I don't think that's his forte. At least, if he does win the EL, I hope he manages to solve the injury problem next season.

This reminds me of, the Secret Policemans Ball or something, is this actually it? Growing up with 5 older brothers I was always watching old stuff that I probably shouldnt have!

They used to have their own show on the box called Monty Phythons Flying Circus for several years, it was shown on there. Great TV imo as they really were different then anything around at the time.

I don’t necessarily disagree with any of that…but by the same token, one mistake and you can easily be eliminated.

I think I’m just fearing the absolute meltdown if/when we don’t win it.
That's cup football for you. But as I stated 2 legged ties does eliminate some risk of a bad decision/bad luck/bad mistake

My previously expressed concern about our defensive structure remains. As the injury crisis eases, it was noticeable that we are back to the two at the back, full backs up the field formation. It continues to give our opponent great opportunities when we lose the ball. Ipswich had great chances yesterday and we seem to rely on our opponents missing gilt edged opportunities. I do not see how that is a template to win a title. Ironically, one has to wonder if we would be more defensively secure if Ange stuck with keeping the full backs deeper as he was recently forced to do. But that is not who we are, mate!
