Lets just sign him as a player

He'd probably still do a job.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

BoL just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your discourse and theories on AVB. It has given me a different perspective and consequently enhanced my enjoyment and increased my appreciation of watching the team with new eyes. I am particularly looking forward to seeing how the team develops both against Liverpool ( I am able to be there in person) and for the rest of the season.

So thank you for your patience and insights and for being able to put forward such a compelling and cogent case. Well done sir. I salute you.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I posted this in the match thread and I'm posting it here too.. I don't think AVB has what it takes...

We need to stop making excuses like we are only x points off top four, or it would have been a different game if the ref had done this or that.

The team looks like a bunch of strangers, no one gets to play in the same position one week to the next, and the style of football we play is dreadful.
That is all down to the manager.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Posted in the OMT.

Ah Jamie Carragher..."the changes AVB makes is just like for like..so so obvious"

Anyway i beg he's outta here asap. I feel sorry for people that forked out major ££££ for a season ticket because i genuinely haven't seen a manager that is utterly clueless at home. He has no clue, none whatsoever.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

time to go for me. I've never been a kneejerker or called for managers heads when things go badly but he's made us play crap football, spent £100m and we're far far worse than we were.

I could put up with us playing defensively if we actually looked good at the back but we don't, a straight ball over the top and a half decent striker and we're screwed, coupled with the fact that we can't score and you've got a recipe for midtable at best. He changes the lineup every week so it's no wonder it's taking time for the players to gel, pick a team and stick with it FFS!

Anyone saying we're still in touch and that kind of thing is delusional, this is the most open premier league in years, we should be right up there with Arsenal, and if we had a manager that knew what he was doing I think we would be.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Tonight probably changes things a fair bit.

Hi

What are your thoughts atm? I know you've written detailed pro-AVB analyses especially last week after the Sunderland game and I'd be very interested to hear if your overall views on how we play or plan to play under AVB has changed...particularly wrt Liverpool's play generally

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

I'm sure he'll be beaten over the head with this result, for me though the players have to look at themselves, I didn't see anywhere near enough effort or desire from any of them today.

I have lost confidence in AVB now and that is one bad defeat too many.

I wanted us to get thumped by 5 or 6 once it went to 0-3 because otherwise all we would hear is that we got beat chasing the game with 10 men etc with no one really accepting the reality that we see most weeks.

I don't think it can be blamed anymore on all the comings and goings. Other teams can make wholesale changes and they don't look anywhere near as laboured and stiff as we look. 7 goals at home is woeful and the flair/fun within our team has just been stifled out to my mind.

Now hopefully this situation can be looked at with the focus it deserves because some of the results and mainly performances have been atrocious and it gets brushed aside with all the crap about being only 5 points off the top.

Taking that in isolation which people have been is papering over the cracks and sticking heads collectively in the sand.

I doubt much will happen tonight but I would suggest that a defeat on Wednesday would see him being sacked and deservedly so.

When players don't really understand what they're supposed to be doing or no longer believe in what they're supposed to be doing this is what happens.

Individual mistakes are down to players, collective uselessness is down to the manager.

This. Players in crucial positions are making horrendous mistakes, leading to us chasing the game against quality opposition, and I think that is what has caused the drubbings. The manager doesn't misplace passes or refuse to track runners.

Holtby and Soldado ran themselves into the ground. Chadli had a good game.
What could Capoue do back there. Sandro and Naughton were playing with injuries. Dawson was playing in a high line as a slow defender beside a slow midfielder against two quick players. How are these players supposed to perform. I mean if an idiot like me could point out the problems before hand why couldnt AVB see it and fix things before they happened.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Look I feel sorry for the guy but im sorry he is a master of his own downfall. He is too stubborn in his ways and just so so so ****in reactive. Liverpool took the game to us today, when do we take the game to others? He is so ****ing statistical and so regimented - the players dont need that... and I know you will laugh but all they want is - go out there and run around... seriously.

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

yep as expected he's talking about injuries and it being "difficult after the sending off".

Re: ***The Official AVB Discussion Thread***

Do people still think he should only be judged at the end of the season?

Im torn - i believe he should get the season but results like this (alongside several others) are unacceptable.

Could understand if he gets the sack but i don't see the point if it's just a stop gap coming in.
