American politics

President Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order declaring that only the attorney general or the president, instead of federal regulators or bureaucrats, can speak for the U.S. when interpreting the meaning of laws carried out by the executive branch.

An aide talking about the order said it “reestablishes a long-standing norm” in the U.S. The order comes as Mr. Trump’s critics fight his agenda in court and raise accusations that he’ll ignore judicial orders.

“The President and the Attorney General’s opinions on questions of law are controlling on all employees in the conduct of their official duties,” the order states.

In short, dictatorship.

Yip. Apparently it went down pretty badly. Not that anyone will do anything apart from whimper slightly.
Batbrick crazy. He's like a playground bully, only with a weird kind of Napoleon complex, an orange complexion and the US nuclear codes.

What could possibly go wrong. 🤷‍♂️

Drink bleach to cure covid......that's the future of the biggest super power in the world (bar China)....

Get me off this fcuking place....anyone defending this whelk, click ignore now, I can't take any of the hypocrisy and stupidity.

An interesting thing I read today apropos of nothing was that the leftwing political podcast MeidasTouch has taken over from Joe Rogan as the most popular podcast in the US. The left are very much playing catch-up on this front so this is good. There is lots of room in this space for dems and left in general to make inroads with the young male voter in particular if they just use their imagination.

This is where the fight should've taken place since 2022. I hope it isn't too little too late...

I agree. The information space is the front line in the war for votes and the dems have comprehensively lost this war over many election cycles. Until they can compellingly counteract the lies and disinfo the casual voters will be uninformed and go with vibes. And the right is so good at controlling the narrative, even now, in MSM it is hard to see a break in this cycle. The left needs its own comparable media apparatus to motivate its voters. That's where the donor money should be spent.

What is happening now in the US is a rolling back of decades of progress. And the cuts to programs they enact will more often hit a red state worse. And this fact makes no inroads into a huge swathe of the electorate. They so badly need to correct this and hopefully stuff like MeidasTouch is the start of this.
