American politics

I think he is seeding the ground for a declaration of martial law at some point. And it will likely happen before the midterms, though I'm not sure congress will have any power by that point anyway.
I was thinking the same thing.
Probably after manufacturing a state of emergency situation and putting restrictions on public gatherings.

I've thought for a while it'll get to a point where Trump orders the military onto the streets.
I don't see his opponents going "good guy with a gun". His supporters obviously will.

So it'll be interesting to see how the Police and Army respond. I think the Army might just stand up against his tyranny.
The Police however I think will be a really big mixture because they so different across State and even each subdivision within States

So apparently Ukraine haven't been invited to the US-Russia talks......

Not a massive surprise I guess:
- Get Putin to agree US access to the rare earth minerals in the Donbass, and share it.
- Tell Ukraine to accept giving Russia the Donbass on US support is immediately withdrawn. Or they can the US better access than Russia will.

It's just a deal.

The most surprising thing is that European leaders seem surprised. It was all there in Project 2025.

Can you point me to anything JK Rowling has said that is anti trans. Because I have heard people say she is. But all I have ever seen is here wanting to protect women and women's spaces.

If you post a direct quote where she has been transphobic I will say fair enough she is. But I never seen it yet.
I'm bringing this post back to the top of the thread as I wonder what made @LutonSpurs say JK Rowling was anti trans as I have only ever seen her stand for woman's rights.

It seems to me women are given a rough deal so someone standing up for them seems like a good person.

Kennedy is UNQUALIFIED! He knows as much about health as the geezer in our local coffee shop! He spoiuts conspiracy theories without basis and he promotes ignorance. Do not be fooled, he and his have NO interest in promoting holistic health or educating people -with support- as to how to augment their lives in a healthier fashion. He spouts this brick but has NO intention of standing behind it, or funding any sort of health education. His fudging boss SHOVES MACCY Ds in his face every 5 minutes! Also bear in mind that well over half the depts he wants to address will now by run by Matey McMatey who previously stocked shelves at ASDA and Bertie McBerto who run a great late kebab joint in downtown Pittsburgh. Nah mate, this is a disaster!

This bloke is a fudging patsy.

(apologies if I seem a bit shouty here, not personal whatsoever I just think this bloke is genuinely a nutty buffoon...)

Despite my views on Trump and his coalition I personally favoured Kennedy if it was a match up between Trump, Biden and Kennedy.

Biden was clearly gone and Trump is Trump

Personally I agree with Kennedy that vaccines should not be mandated. If he does make the food related health reforms which have been proposed I think it would be good for the US

Of course he may not follow through but we will see

To explain why I oppose vaccine mandates/ pressure...

My mother has Huntingtons Disease and I had found out just before Covid that she had it and was at risk.

For me because it is such an extremley rare illness I did not want to risk doing anything which might lead to it being onset earlier... I looked into the Covid vaccine and how it works absoloutely not expecting to see anything which would put me off.

As soon as I read that it interacts with a harmless spike protein... knowing HD is causes by a spike protein... I was like "no".

Because HD is so rare it is very difficult to study the effects of particular health choices on health outcomes. Particularly for a novel vaccine which had just been rolled out.

I did not want to have it done because I felt it was an unnecssary risk - which if I have HD may bring on an early onset. Of course, it may not be like that, but in an already high state of anxiety about my health I did not want to take any gambles with needless stuff.

I was working in care at the time whilst also caring for my mother... Suddenly they announced care workers would have to be vaccinated or lose their jobs. There was a set deadline for this...

Obviously with everything going on, and me living in a small town which is hard enough to find jobs in at the best of times - I felt under a lot of pressure.

My manager asked me if I was going to be vaccinated and I said I was not sure. She outrightly asked me if I was "antivaxx"... I was like "No, I haver personal cirmustances which make me concerned about it. But I believe ANYONE else without complex health problems should have it.

I couldn't believe I was having to justify my own personal health choices to someone... Especially when by this point it was pretty clear Covid was not actually that hamrful. And if I decided not to, suddenly I must be a antivax conspiracy theorist when the reality is i had asthma flu jabs for 15 years.

In the end, (long story short), I moved away and got 1 vaccine because I felt I may need it when I started doing care work again.. I was now living in Wales but didn't want legilsation to come in.

Then the government realised how many NHS staff would be prepared to resign if they were madaed to be vaccinated... So the government decided no one else should. Care staff were pretty much used as a tester.

So I am not antivaxx. I completely expected to have Covid vaccines. But by life cirumstances I recognise health choices should be down to an individual. And not something you have to justify to anyone.

You are really reaching here. But you do you. Everyone knows what you meant. I do not believe for a second you meant this. And it isn't the first time I've had crap like this from you. I see you Chich.

I quoted your message earlier in the week about JK Rowling. You can see in that thread I did and some posters even liked it.

Yet again your refusing to pinpoint what makes Rowling anti trans. She has campaigned for women's rights.

So it is with that in mind I got the impression you did not believe in equality for women.

If you think that I meant something else (not sure what but I'm not a mind reader) you do you.

As it is, you tell me you do in fact believe in equality and I said I believed you and that my previous impression of you were incorrect.

If you any trouble interpretation my posts or think they are inciting any sort of hatred please do contact the relevant authorities. I'm very comfortable in what I wrote.

Have a lovely evening.

You are writing like some weird robot who is trying not to incriminate themselves. It's painful to read. So I didn't bother. But I'm glad you wrote it all. I've addressed Rowling in the other thread. You clearly don't know her history. And also I think you wanted to bait me. And you've actually really made me angry. Crack on lad.

I'm not trying to bait you or anyone.

I have seen this before with other posters as well. If I don't have the same opinion as them they accuse me of being deliberately contrain. To me it hints at arrogance that people should always think the same way as them.

Which is often why these types of people have such issues dealing with political shocks. Like a Trump victory, because they go along cocooned in their own echo Chambers.

One benefit to me is I don't fit into anyone side. On some issues I would be considered left some center some right. I refuse to identify as one side then agree with every topic on that particular side.

I highlighted and quoted your post on JK Rowling earlier in the week because actually I followed her quite closely as my wife and son are fans of her work. I have yet to see anything I would describe as anti trans. I have seen many people jump on the bandwagon and criticise her.

I do not think you holding a different opinion on her makes you a band person. I'm able to engage and debate with people on many subjects.

We do not share the same opinion on Rowling, but do hold I think the same view on women's rights and equality. I don't agree with your opinion of Rowling but I would fight to the death for you to be able to have that opinion. It is what being a true champion of liberal democracy entails.

Have a lovely evening.

You will never even countenance that you might not have the full scope of facts of a situation. I personally think it weakens someone mate. Each to their own...anyway...

It is my country of residence. I am not a citizen. I suspect you added that to get this exact response, knowing it would needle me. Well done lad, well done.

We can argue what 'democracy' is in the modern context all day, but again, just THINK about what you're glibly saying. The US public did NOT vote for Elon Musk. They did NOT vote for a President who farms off responsibility for the 'promises' he made to a franklly unconstitutional 'body' and an unelected billionaire. That is NOT 'democracy'.
Yet, in the run up to the election, Trump had a 2 hour interview with Musk where he spelled out almost that exact plan.

At least your leader is doing what he told everyone he was going to do. Nobody here voted for tax increases or a castrated economy.

Doing some extreme fishing on multiple fronts of late. Obsessing unreliable reports of salacious details of Rayner or even Tuchel is a hell of a niche fetish, all power to you, if it didn't seem so judgemental. You're a bit like a schoolchild who has just discovered swearing, doing it loudly on the bus because it gives them a thrill.

If Rayner has gone down on someone and it was consensual on both fronts, what the flying fudge does it have to do with your smarmy self?
I would prefer politicians to be in the cabinet on merit, but I know both sides are as bad as each other before you point it out.

It's not. It's a decision to be made at a Government level with a focus on societal risk and stability.
It's part of the reason most societies don't let everyone jack up on heroin.

Get it right, he's been saying it for years. What he didn't say is that he would place an unelected non-politician at the heart of federal actions and defy the checks and balances in place coup style. So they did not 'vote' for this. You were WRONG to say they did.

I have felt for some time that we are going to see civil 'war'/unrest en masse in certain states. California won't tolerate it. I can see fed vs state troopers. To your point, the split within the police will be major. Ultimately, and I think it is the only hope TBH, it is that deep check and balance of the military standing for the sanctity of a system versus tyranny which endangers both a nation and its people which you have to bank on.

I missed the bit where Trump said he would install an unelected and unqualified non-politician-billionaire to oversee the Federal economy and related business, give them access to personal data that has been beyond Federal reach without a series of checks and balances, and had authority to run roughshod over the law.

I know you feel politically omnipotent, but you do not have a clue what is happening here.

p.s. and your trolling re: 'your' is tedious, tinpot flimflam. If this is seriously how you find joy in life, you have my sympathies because it's pathetic.
