American politics

No .. and that is the issue with people's mentality, media and the era of false equivalency.

Is either Clinton or Trump broadly likeable candidates = no
Are they equally "as bad" or "nuts" or "insert complaint here" = not even close

Hillary Clinton is a career politician, who has tons of experience in multiple areas of government, she has wanted to be president for years and has prepared for it.. She comes with all the baggage that most career politicians come with re past choices, funding and corporate interests, even her biggest scandal (email) was in fact a practice done by previous republicans in her role. She is generally quite a boring personality (from what you see of her public image).

Trump is a petulant child, with classic signs of social/mental disorders, is a failed businessman, is in it not because he had some dreams of being president, but because fame/attention is a drug he can't live without, but the biggest issue with Trump is he is an extremely ignorant person, he does not read, he has very little knowledge of anything and still thinks he is the brightest guy in the room.

See the following for a good view on Trump

The video is a good view of trump in your opinion because it echoes your opinion. And that is all it is someone's opinions.
I stopped listening very early on when he said IF someone said trump was the best qualified it would be wrong. Well no one is saying that, in fact he's getting voted because he isn't a career politician.
this whole "revolution" in the voting world is now starting to wear very thin with me.

I wouldn't vote trump under any circumstances, even though Clinton is obviously a power crazed bitch who will do and say anything for the job. Rock and a hard place for Americans.

Or just good at what she does. You comment above is typical of a opinion trying to purport as fact!

I agree with the rest. I hate the rise of the Corbyn world politics

Just because Clinton is a better package does not mean she is anyway less evil than Trump. For my money its better to know what you are dealing with in Trump than trying to work out what the hell Clinton is. Its amazing how much people are willing to do if they want power so bad, so surely its better to see their faults on a plate (Trump) than wonder how dangerous they can be....Clinton

If Trump is such a fudgewitted macaron how come he has become the number 1/2 candidate for the whitehouse? the more educated masses screaming from the heavens, the masses that stood against him, all proven wrong, I am not defending him I am simply asking the question? So why?

I am not asking for long winded responses, but if someone can give me a short sensible reply to why Trump is doing so well....I am all ears

that's easy, lots of people are stupid

The best answer is can give is that he in much the same was that Corbyn acts as a focus point for the disenfranchised through to the lunatic fringe in left wing politics so does trump in terms of right wing politics. Neither politician has suitable gravitas , intelligence or experience to be a world leader. Both would be an unqualified disaster if they got elected. As for how Trump has got this far, vast amounts of money plus don't forget Sarah Palin.
Both Trump and Corbyn are politicians for those bored of detail, nuance, compromise, etc - all the things that make up real world politics.

They are there for those happy to shout about everything being wrong but don't want to stop and wonder what the solution is or if those solutions can ever actually work.

Hoisted by my own petard:rolleyes:. I should have course have said in my opinion, because that's all it is,

I don't trust Clinton, I don't like her politics or the way she goes about them.
I liked her husband and for all his penchant for the ladies he was an ok president. It's a difficult job and he tried to do the least wrong thing most of the time. That's really all you can ask.

It's not just corbyn, or even a left vs right thing. This whole attitude of I've read some blogs, googled it and seen it on f/b so I've got all the facts and my opinion is more important than yours is really annoying. Then when things don't go your way you pigeon hole people to fit your prejudices.
The your isnt you by the way.

We tend to agree......

"I don't trust Clinton, I don't like her politics or the way she goes about them."

I dont know her.....she a ballsy lady! That will be a no no for some on its own in the US!

The trouble is the US is a basket case politically.
They spend gazillions of $ and far to much time electing someone who cant get anything done because their system is broken. Its the influence from individuals and corporate wealth that renders the US legislature moribund. Which has led to the rise of the current anti politic.

Let put it this way if Trump and her came to do an interview for the job. Trump would not stand a chance.

He's the anti vote........they never work and history shows they can be very dangerous!

I like that.........

Corbyn especially is a purely a professional protester.
Trump is a C+ reality TV personality
....was musing earlier about seeing Alan Sugar in the same role. :D

that's easy, lots of people are stupid

Especially a lot of voters, i do have to chuckle reading some of the opinions about the two candidates, America has a history of electing idiots going all the way back to RAYgun ( who's portfollio highs were playing second lead to a monkey and loving wars).

Trump and Clinton are just two more from a very long line.

Really? vote for Trump/Pence (an evangelical nutjob) = vote for racism, mass deportation, religious involvement in state, continued state policies targeted at minorities, removal of women's/gay/other rights, continued destruction of unions, increased military spending, sabotage of us relations with UN, Canada/Mexico, Nato, etc. tax cuts for the richest in society, reversal of health care act (that covers between 20-40M Americans), guaranteed appointment of evangelical to supreme court (which could impact laws for 20-30 years)

Hilary will really be a 3rd term of Obama's policies which have provided health care for the poor, opened relations with Cuba, legalized gay marriage, allowed for the state by state legalization of drugs and generally made America step into the 21st century on a lot of things. the only real concern with Hilary is for a liberal she is quite war inclined.

Take away the names/bias to both, this is not a hard choice, unless you are a racist/bigot/old white man that thinks his country is being taken away by stinking foreigners ..

Well I'm an old white man but neither of the other two and it's not my country.
My real concern with Clinton is that's she not a liberal at, but only saying what the liberal voter wants to hear. She jumps from band wagon to band wagon and rides it for maximum effect.
The war bit doesn't concern me at all because I don't think she really means it. It's one thing to vote for it when it's not your decision, totally different when you carry the can for it.

Mate, I'm in your boat, not my country, live here (can't vote), well on way to being in the old white man category .. I would probably pay less taxes under Trump.

Like I said before, not a lot of good things to say about Hillary, other than the country won't go off the rails under her ...

I agree with that, I think she will be little more than a ceremonial president. She just wants to be the first woman president.

The crazed fascist (Trump) has jumped the shark with his continued attacks on the parents of an officer killed in the line of duty. One thing that even RWNJ neo-liberals will not accept is attacks on the military. All down hill from here. He cannot and will not win now, not that he was ever a real chance, without major RWNJ Repuglian backing.

Really interested why so many Brits see this as their business?

No one seems to give a fudge about the political goings on of our actual neighbours.

Just saying.

the US has a global influence, our culture is closer to theirs than any of our European neighbours and we share a language, it's not that it's our "business" it's that it's of interest and accessible

personally I admire the US political system, it's a shame so many of the politicians don't do it justice

Perhaps. The thing is, mainstream politics/politicians have left some people behind -- as this group grows larger then so does the support for an alternative, both on the left and the right.

IMO, the blame lies with the centrists/moderates who have become ever more self-serving, taking for granted the impotence of the people who no longer feel represented.

My opinion is that left-wing policies make for a better world to live in and I support Corbyn because I believe he would at least try and deliver on his left-wing policies, rather than pay lip-service to them. I also believe that the country has plenty of right-wing options to vote for (Tories, UKIP) and a centrist party too (the Lib Dems) so a Labour Party that represents socialism is a good thing for our overall democracy -- people have a proper choice on the direction they think the country should go. If that view doesn't chime with my own, so be it -- that's democracy.
