2022 World Cup... gonna ruin the European Season

2 good chances that if he had been in the correct position, could have prevented from happening. He does it in a Spurs shirt aswell, the guy is reckless.

I think I already asked. But what did he do wrong? In what way was his positioning wrong for those two chances?

Awful for 35 minutes then pretty good since England
Obviously picking Maddison was purely to appease the media as Southgate is never going to play him, not even at 3-0 up with 20 to go he brings on Mount instead

Started getting more players running past Kane as they improved. Thought without Sterling that would be an issue, but after those 35 minutes Bellingham was joined by Henderson, Saka and Forden in doing that and we all know how effective that can be.

Have to say Kane was immense. Just get some movement around and beyond him and he's so good, and then still scores.

We still haven't had the usual goal or two from a corner yet. Gotta be due a Maguire header at some point

France will obviously be another level, but Southgate is pretty good at his job isn’t he.

This isn’t a vintage England squad, yet there is very little panic, stress and under performance in the squad compared to some of the “golden” ones.

France will be much tougher. England give off very few "we're going to implode vibes" now and up against anyone will be in with a shout. Actually beating the best, results in any one game or a string of games is a different question. But this England team is in the fight in a different way than some previous "golden generations" imo.

I think Southgate definitely deserves his part of the credit for that. The players too.

He’s a very cautious manager but I often defend Southgate, you can’t argue with his results considering the failures of his predecessors. I’m quite optimistic we will beat France provided Maguire and Stones don’t drop a gonad. But if we do get knocked out it will no doubt be ALL Southgate’s fault as apparently it is always the manager’s fault whenever England lose any game ever.

Will we go 3 at the back though?

I hope he doesn’t but like I said, he’s cautious. We never really went for it against Italy in the Euros final. And it’s a fair point that we haven’t turned in a complete performance against a top team in the Southgate era with the exception of the win against Germany last summer.

I think the argument to keep a back 4 was that the RWB would be quite defensive looking to defend the threat from Mbappe, So playing a 3 means we'd probably end up having a back 5 stuck deep and inviting pressure. I can't remember who said it, might have been Stuart Pearce. Said he'd much rather play as we are and go for it and not go into our shell again like we have in the past.

Bbc studio coverage is terrible it’s like they’re just winging it?!? They just showed a montage of Gvardiol and it’s like they didn’t know what was about to be shown, started slating him and the montage showed about 5 clips, 4 of which were him doing well!
