I guess I’m surprised the bookies and pundits haven’t learned their lesson when it comes to Brazil as they have been favourites for the last 3 World Cups. Fair enough being favourites in 2014 when they hosted but they still got smashed as soon as they came up against top European opposition. They are overdue so maybe that played a part. Am I right in thinking this is their longest drought since the inception of the tournament? I don’t think they’ve ever gone more than 20 years between titles since it began in the 1930s.

It's who the punters put money on. The bookies don't care who wins if they make a profit.
