OMT Spurs vs Geordies 7.30 Tuesday 10th Feb

What amazes me is we're just not well coached. The system, the approach, the desire, its not there and the manager who now has 8 other ex Brentford staff here looks lost - as do the coaches.
This.
Hands up, I thought Thomas Frank would be very average and very pragmatic and make us solid and well-coached and the sum of our parts... we are absolutely woeful. It is incredible that such a "well-established" set of coaches can make us this bad at football.

In a season of unbelievably turgid football, dire performances and even worse results, this is the worst of the lot. Saudi Sportswashing Machine were rubbish tonight. But they were absolutely miles better than us and thoroughly deserved to win. I will be flabbergasted - but also strangely unsurprised - if Frank isn’t gone by this time tomorrow. I think the Board has given up in the same way that the players have.

I've watched with disbelief this evening, as Toon were there for the taking - they are in crisis, their manager is being questioned, but you know what Howe would get a tune out of our lot, compared to what we saw tonight.

I just don't understand what we are.

Are we a resolute and hard to beat side? Nope.
Are we bossing the middle of the park and working to get goals of turnovers? Nope.
Are we aggressive up top with a desire to blow teams away? Nope.
Are we a counter attacking team? Nope.
Are we pressing as a team to get the ball back? Nope.
Are we playing to our strengths and playing balls in behind for the pace of Odobert, Solanke and Tel? Nope.

I am very very against knee jerk decisions in this game - its never a good idea to let emotion rule your decisions. But enough is now enough - this is possibly just a misalignment of club and manager, but its got to be time to try something else.

It's funny that Frank said something about playing with no risk being the biggest risk or something like that, because that's who we are.

Big important game, at home, vulnerable opposition. We lack our best deep passer so we play 3 box to box midfielders in a midfield three and for me a grand total of 3 attacking players on the pitch, 4 if you include Gallagher (I don't).

Near the end of that match, when we were so desperate for a goal, I just saw fear. Players not wanting the responsibility and no will to fight for the hard yards. There may be one or two exceptions to that, but it was just a bunch of players who wanted to be anywhere but on that pitch under that pressure.

And the fans, we look and feel like a zombie club at the moment.

I'm not going to say we were good tonight, it was really messy most of the game

but, the mistake for the first goal was schoolboy stuff, and we should have had a pen

again, its points if we don't make dumb mistakes and get the correct officiating

The worst bit, we're breaking at 1-1 tails up, crowd behind them, and Gallagher crumbles, can't make a simple 5 yard pass. Then they score.

After that there wasn't much left in the tank. VDV could have scored. Nothing else. Saudi Sportswashing Machine are as pony as us, but the difference is they can defend.

The important thing to remember, is that anyone can score a goal.

E.g. Today Thomas Soucek made a clever run into the box, the ball was played low and hard across to him, and he neatly put it through Lammen's legs... and there is no way in hell that you lot would suggest Thomas Soucek as some sort of goalscoring solution for Spurs.
What I am saying is, anyone can score, and we keep seeing goals from the centre backs and Palhinha and Gray and still we make goalscoring look almost impossible, like some impossible task.

The way we train our forwards/dribblers/attackers/strikers must be lacking, they make goalscoring seem impossible e.g. if they can sprint at 100mph and cut back at 97 degrees and jink inside and nutmeg 2 players and curl a perfect shot it might perhaps go in, yet other teams just seem to get men forwards and bundle the ball in.

And that is what Thomas Frank should be good at, get men in the right positions and bundle it in off someone's elbow. But no, we are utterly terrible at football.

Just home and did something I have never done before and hope never to do again. I walked at half time. Why? Our midfield set up was horrible. Sarr looked lost. Spence look lost and there was zero attacking threat on the left.
I have backed Frank till now but that set-up was on the manager. We don't appear to have a clue how to attack, and look just as vulnerable to any long ball over the top, as we were under Ange. I'd be amazed if we aren't relegated. There must be an out of work manager who could take the £5mill or whatever to keep us up....

The difference is they could attack. And they wanted to attack.

At 0-0 we essentially played as if we were playing for a draw.

Once we took the handbrake off and tried getting forward we played alright I thought. Shame it again takes us going behind to start trying to play.
