I’ve been studying him closely the last couple of games to see what part of his game is the reason why he’s not playing more. And to be honest, I really can’t see anything. There’s not much of a drop off from the starters to him so it’s all a bit bizarre why he hasn’t been played a lot more. But Ange knows a lot more than I do as he sees him all the time.

He’s clearly very confident and I love the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the team. I’m glad he’s been able to show what he could do on the pitch and long may it continue.

I do wonder if Ange has been holding him back to see if his change in attitude will really stick. Talent has never been the issue, and just chucking him back in after a few good training sessions may have sent the wrong message.

If it's not that then I have no clue, because I agree that he has looked very good every time he's gotten minutes.

Edit: This would chime with the 'long term' approach that Ange so often talks about in his pressers which is why I think there might be something to it.

I think you would be surprised how knowledgable some online posters are on their clubs. They watch every game, every presser, every tactical change, track every injury and build this amazing holistic view in their heads. They obviously don't get to see the "inside club" bit, but they absolutely get exposed to this multi-year view of their club.

Even if you take Ange, he's only been immersed deeply for 18 months. He wouldn't have the same detailed memories of watching the current players like the posters have over the 3-5 year period.

I'm sensing that the AI machine will soon be web crawling and bringing a ton of intelligence back to the top clubs from the web. They will be tapping into the collective intelligence of their fans and figuring out the valuable noise from the non-valuable noise.

The last thing you want it is a fan making decisions (ok second last to your other suggestion of AI.) Fans are in way too deep to think logically. Too much heart not enough head.
