Haven't you heard? People don't have to take any financial responsibility for their actions, no matter what they do the state has to support them.
What a society we live in eh. Not advocating the one child policy ala China, but after two state benefit stops and your on your own. A law like this will make people think twice before irresponsibly bringing kids into this world with no proper means to support them. I'm sure civil liberties and else would make sure something like this never gets through. Shame as a population cull is required

I dont care if people have one or a hundred kids - as long as you can afford them.
I know people who are married and want kids but can barely keep themselves financially secure so what will happen with kids? They do cost money a lot of money.
I dont like kids so maybe im biased but im looking at it objectively.
Richie - I am all for state support - if I lost my job tomorrow then at leats im safe in the knowledge that I have some security however this woman fudgein put herself in this position. Does she even work?

DOLE queen Heather Frost rakes in enough benefits cash from taxpayers to pay for her own HORSE.
The mum of 11, whose council is building her a £400,000 palace in Tewkesbury, Gloucs, wants two more £200-a-month nags.
Heather bought a grey mare called Annie as a present for one of her kids last year.
She pays paddock fees, feed and vet bills every month — all at taxpayers’ expense.
Stable hands reckon the cost of keeping the animal is a whopping £200 a month.
But The Sun has been told she tried to buy ANOTHER two nags and get a £20 discount on the price of stabling them.
She currently pays £65 a month in paddock fees for one horse and had negotiated a deal to keep three for £175.
But the arrangement fell through at the last minute, said a worker at the paddock on Innsworth Lane, near her house in Churchdown, Gloucs.
The worker said Heather bought the mare for 16-year-old daughter Angel about eight months ago, adding: “It has breathing difficulties so the vet comes quite often.
“It’s sickening she can afford what most people would consider a luxury.
Her daughter Angel said: “My mum has nothing to be ashamed about. How could she possibly work with 11 children? And she didn’t ask for the new house.”
But one neighbour said: “It’s disgusting. I don’t pay my taxes so some jobless baby-machine can have a horse.”
Matthew Sinclair of the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Benefits are there to provide a safety net when people fall on tough times, not fund an enormous house and a pony.”

The problem with the Human Rights Act is not the act itself, it's that the spirit of the act has been abused and twisted to protect everything and anything. Which, in turn, makes it counter productive.
your example above is a prime example of the contradiction it can cause. clearly the right of the woman have been violated in that scenario.
the human rights act does do a lot of good also, however that does not make headlines.
(and that is something the UK needs to consider carefully if/when we get an in/out EU referendum - go with the facts, not the propoganda)
Now we all know that British less than salubrious past has caused the problem with a lot of people living in Britain (often UK citizens) whose social ideal is well out of kilter with that of the UK (as per the OP).
I do feel, however, that we need to stop being apologetic politically for our past and set laws and policy to manage our present and future.
For example - residency of 10(?) years post entry in the country as a permanent resident and confirmation of UK citizenship before you can invite a non EU citizen/resident into the UK
That policy goes slightly against my belief structure, however any political belief structure needs to address how people will use the system. (something the Human Rights failed to do by leaving itself too open to abuse)

Im with you on this one.
I've been married 7 years (im 30 now) and kids is financially a long way off (granted that is partly due to choosing to live in a expensive town).
I'm in favour of benefits being allowed for "the result of pregnancies" and to apply from 0-18. Once you have raised your kid to 18, by all manner pop out another one.
I am also think we need to change unemployment benefit to look at individuals only (ie not penalise someone just because they are married). Pay people more to get them back into work but tighten up the conditions greatly.

I remember reading when a tory came out and said that he thought child tax credits should be for a max of 2 children. A liberal democrat came out at the time and said it would be unfair because it meant poor people could not have big families. Bunch of tossers in this country.
