Yeah. I get it’s all a balancing act. If we have the funds for a back up RB as well as other positions (or is there a youngster lurking? Don’t think there is but I don’t have much knowledge there) then fair enough. Otherwise we can get by with Spence for another year.
My mantra in life - it’s not cost, it’s value. We might lose a bit selling him next year but if he plugs a gap this coming season whilst we cover other positions then that’s ok with me.

I don’t disagree with you but it doesn’t seem to be RDZ way of thinking. I think he wants a squad of 20+ players that he has complete faith in and if that means we make 8+ new signings this summer he is going to make that happen.

I think Gray could be that young RB.

Gray is a very poor RB, grateful for him to play out of position there without any complaints or grumbles, but it’s quite clearly not his position. The difference in performance when playing there compared to CM is marked, to put it mildly.

He’s not fast enough to be effective long term at right back in my opinion. Fills in well enough but don’t think it would suit him to stay there

And according to lots Trent is a tinklepoor full back, good at attacking but poor at defending, so that hardly helps your argument.

Indeed. He played at RB for Leeds when the regular RB was injured and did well enough to retain his place. I saw him play in midfield a few times in his last season at Leeds and was less convincing.
