Interim manager thread 2.0

One of the loves of my life is going to do something I disagree with, I also spend alot of time and money with this love and it rarely gives me the love back I deserve, especially in recent times. I've decided I'd like to question their, in my view, unethical potential decision.

Not being able to understand this position is genuinely bizarre to me.
It actually feels like a fitting end to this doom cycle we've been on since 2019. The final catastrophe to fully burn the house down, before we toddle off to cleanse and rebuild, fully chasened

Mate.
I don't like him.
I never have.
I think he projects as a massive c unt.
My opinion.
Sharing it with this forum.
You obviously disagree.
Great. All good.

As for Ferguson, I think what he did with Beckham in that moment was very poor. I think what he did with the young players he had for many many years (and how he treated everyone at Man Utd) was exceptional. Based on his history, I would absolutely give Fergie a pass. So yeah , you've got me wrong on that one.
So if De Zerbi delivers success you'll change your moral position on him?
I guess everyone has a price.

I look at it through my own eyes. If my company hired someone who's on tape saying those things and then my boss came out to publicly support him, I'd be looking for a new job immediately.
That's cool mate and good for you - I'm not here to try and change anyone's beliefs.

But the reality is football is it's own special bubble - He's been at two clubs now, the Getafe manager defended the decision to sign Greenwood - How many players and staff have left these clubs in outrage of having Greenwood there? Zero. So unless they are all monsters, maybe the situation isn't that simple.

We can all say we would do this, that and the other as fans when we know full well we aren't ever going to be involved in this industry. But the reality is when you are in that football bubble things are very different and it is quite clearly a special situation that as a football manager is not easy to manage, no matter how clear cut you want to portray the situation to be.....

Yes, there's nuance. And yes, football and other male-dominated industries have always been a safe haven for men who abuse women and those who want to protect and excuse those men. I think that makes it all the more important for us as fans and ideally as a club to say no, that's not what we want to be.

The game has changed. All dressing rooms are full of young women now. PhD students working as physios and nutritionists etc. It can't be a safe space for abusers any more.

The only reason Gazza doesn't get the same treatment is he is white. Simple.

I really don't think it is.
It's two fold:
I. Because he's "Gazza", the cheeky little chappy. That does act as a barrier. Just look at the likes of Michael Jackson, Jimmy Saville, Russell Brand, etc as comparators.

II. Because of the very clear mental health issues.

Don't throw the race card around in an unsubstantiated manner - You're better than that.

I don’t know a lot about him, I’ll be honest, but if the hot headed ness claims are true then I’m not sure that’s what we need right now for the remaining games of this season. I would have thought calm was more the way forward
RDZ quotes about Greenwood were:

"He's a good person" based on his opinion on him from Marsailles/training
"I know a totally different person than the one described"
"It saddens me what has happened to him."
"He has paid a heavy price".

and on judging his past he said.

"i never get involved in people's private lives"

That is all he has said in relation to the court (or lack of court case)

Hire an asshole vs getting relegated. Potentially both. I don't know, man.

You’d have to ask if this is a wise appointment whatever your view. It’s bound to cause noise and distraction as well as potentially splitting the fan base. Do we need that right now?
Out of curiosity what managerial appointment isn't going to create a bucket load of noise? Ben Davies? Dyche? Poch? Redknapp? We have been a circus for some time, and this is the end result....

I guess being the second highest paid manager in the league behind Pep has managed to swing it for him....

Racists use that card to mask their own bigotry, simple as that. I've experienced it first hand from that poster.

More logically, Gazza didn't receive the sane vitriol because he was the nation's sweetheart, fans of other clubs loved him, as did people who didn't even like football. Plus, it was 20 years before social media.

If that is all that he said why are people getting so upset , RDZ didn't know Greenwood in Manchester he is commenting on how he has found him since at Marseille.

The whole Mason Greenwood thing aside, he is a decent manager isn’t he? Quite good tactician?

At least we’d be entertaining to watch…

This is an insane appointment.

5 year contract for someone that hardly stays anywhere for a prolonged period of time.

Likely to fall out with owners if not backed to a level he expects (he won't be)

Not exactly someone who is going to unite the fan base either.

It's one poor decision after another
