Conor Gallagher

According to the journos on The Tottenham Way podcast, €40 million is a lot to Athletico at the moment, especially for a player who’d only started for them four times this year.

Their loss, hopefully.
If Athletico are strapped for cash maybe they should cut Oblak's pay, according to Capology with bonuses he is on 26 million euros a year , not bad for a goalie.

I still can't help but wonder why we didn't go in hard for Johnny Cardoso, as he was apparently ahead in the pecking order with Gallagher.
Personally, I'm pretty happy with this signing and having another HG player will be nice for the squad registration rules. I think we can only register 3 players for CL for transfers, although I'm not sure how that works regarding Tel being registered for the CL due to the injury rule (i.e., if we put Solanke back into the CL squad, that might take up the second slot?)

Different positions though, Cardoso’s a DM whereas Gallagher does his best work further forward.

Cardoso didn't want to come. He had the choice of ourselves or Athletico in the summer and made his choice.

you wonder why he did leave? can only be money.
I would have thought he'd have been on pretty good money at Atleti anyway, I would have thought more exposure and playing time with the world cup was a bigger factor.
Also who doesn't want a relagation battle in England in January? ;)

Is this all part of your plan to get "relegation" as Oxford Dictionary word of the year.

Hopefully with Gallagher and when Solanke is back up to speed we can high press in the way Frank wants. I generally agree his football has been boring so far but seeing a team move as a pack and strangle the opposition is one of the most exciting things in modern football for me.

(this is asuming no long term injury effects to Solanke's game - probably a stupid assumption to make)

gotta feel for Frank when we are missing our best central midfielders in Maddison and Kulusevski in his first season
