Richarlison

yeah but we need better from an attacker in the modern game. i cannot wait for muani and solanke to be fit to provide needed movement up front and more unpredictability in attack. hopefully with his worldies, we can sell richy to fund muani.
Absolutely, it's fine to strive for better. Richi isn't good enough as an all round no.9 when playing up front on his own. But he is still a decent goalscorer, I'd suggest better than Solanke in that area but Solanke has a better all round game.

In short, I don't think Richi deserves the levels of criticism he gets on here - and I say that acknowledging we ultimately need better....

He scores when he wants!

Crazy stat. Like with Johnson. Two players I simply don't enjoy watching, even though they keep on scoring. It's bizarre. Whereas someone like Kolo Muani, who has barely scored yet, love to watch him play. I'm sorry Bren and Richy, love you, but I can't help it!

Unless you have a team of very good well rounded players we need a mix. Too many "will score if they get good service" players and we'll create very little. But with a team capable of playing well and creating chances having someone who gets the ball over the line is obviously important.

Richarlison isn't the best finisher around, but seems to me rather good at getting into those goalscoring opportunities, being on the end of things.

Play more like we did against Brentford more of the time and he'll probably keep scoring while also being a handful and nuisance for the opposition. And while technically inconsistent also well capable of very good moments on the ball.

But for sure, but the most enjoyable to watch.

I always love how he gives 110% while on the pitch. That is something we struggled with as a team in the last few years.
5th in the PL goalscoring chart. Would do a lot better if he was playing for a team like City or even Liverpool that create chances.
Sure he is no Kane, but who is?
Not saying we can't improve on him, but it looks like plenty of PL teams have a striker problem. Would go for a cheeky bid for Osimhen if we could with a Richarlison swap plus cash.

Such a strange player. With his back to goal, the ball bounces off him like his feet are made of sandstone - he can play maybe 1 good pass out of every five.

But he's also a truly gifted poacher, in the sense that he'll be in the right place at the right time and can usually put the ball on target in those situations (though not with any great degree of finesse - not that he needs it given the excellent positions he gets into!).

I think his misfortune is that he's a centre-forward in the era of lone centre-forwards that are expected to do everything. When what he really is, is a poacher - a physical and hard-working one, but still, largely just a souped-up version of, say, Darren Bent from back when.

And that's not a slight on him at all - Bent was a goalscorer, and so is Richy. But given his size, he's typecast as a barnstorming all-aspect centre forward when he really isn't!

Joaquin Panichelli is looking like the next #9 ready to hit the big time. Ekitike or Woltemade minus 12 months.

well to me the criticism on the player is linked to the performance and results we want to achieve - so that's fifth in the league in my mind, and I am very sure no team in the top 5 of the epl is going to buy richarlison because he is not good enough. think back to everton days - he certainly has not improved and may have even gone backwards generally.

I'm not convinced either are good enough.
