£24m for a loan and oblig fee, that seems insanely high for a donkey

A deal is in place between Arsenal and Porto over the loan signing of defender Kiwior.

The deal includes an obligation and the total package, including the loan fee, is worth around £24m.

Kiwior’s sale is linked to Piero Hincapie’s potential arrival from Bayer Leverkusen – both positionally and financially.

Positive talks continue between Arsenal and Leverkusen for Hincapie.

Good has to be viewed against how competitive we will be.
Been trying to argue for evaluating the window when it closes and then at some point in the future.

Based on the pushback on that along with the amount of opinions on the window well before it closes I wish you luck 😉
VdV would add an option at LB or LCB in a 3.
It's all about having options and flexibility.
Spence and Udogie as attacking FBs.
VdV as a more defeny LB, with a good pass and LCB if packing the midfield.
Danso comes into a 3, but we are short then.

£15m for Akanji would be a steal
15m for a 30 year old CB that's versatile and proven at a high level, at least good, but not fantastic. Selling club seemingly happy to sell. Seems about fair?

Still think Davies has something to offer for 5 or so games a season at LB as well if really needed.

Honestly, unless we can pick up a real exciting opportunity at FB I don’t see the point in stop gaps this summer (we have those already).
Think a "stop gap" signing like that is fine. Good even. We'd struggle to get better than him as a cover/option and with some talented young CBs already here to develop no real need for another raw talent type.

I might not have been clear. I’m onboard with Akanji as he’s a pure CB and we have enough cover at LB to get by in Udogie, Spence, Davies, VDV, Gray (considering the small amount we will need to call on those last 3 in that position). I’m not onboard with Ake who would be a hybrid LB/CB and well below the standard of Akanji.

The power of Simons...

Steff going from somewhat down on Levy to (unconscious?) sexual innuendos about the man in the span of one signing.

The Premier League isn't ready for this.

All jokes aside, to be clear, the way that Parrish and his 'Eze game' went down (and the subsequent anger it caused in him) has made sure that this deal got done and done fast (it feels). Daniel does not like losing or being gazzumped in the window, and truth be told, with this addition (who, remember, was an early prime target before the MGW fiasco) coupled with the excellent pick up of Kudus and the astute much-needed signing of Pahlinha means even if no-one else comes in, we have three excellent additions for Frank. It is an imopressive deal to slam through IMO...

Daniel is used to losing and being gazumped, I don’t think he will bat an eye lid. He’s got enough experience and professional acumen to move on.

AC Milan willing to pay Emirates Marketing Project nearly £13m for Akanji

AC Milan are willing to pay Emirates Marketing Project nearly £13m (€15m) for Manuel Akanji, according to Sky in Italy.
Milan believe they will be able to reach an agreement with City.
But first, they need the approval of the player, whom Milan sporting director Igli Tare says they are yet to convince.
Sky in Italy claim that Akanji would prefer to stay in England.

Not at all impossible. Liverpool haven't exactly been banging on the door to get him. It would be a step up for him, and he gets to stay in London. That might be something he'd prefer.
Wishful thinking, my friend!!! Liverpool is his only objective.

He either moves for a fee by Monday or else on a free transfer next summer....

Must admit, I don’t want Akanji

We’re supposed to be competing with City, not buying their unwanted thirty-somethings

Our scouts need to be spotting the next Akanji. He was a steal for them and has been fantastic for few seasons. He wasn’t young when they bought him either.
