'we made an illegal approach' - you've no proof this happened, but your go to is anti-Levy. The fact that nothings been said since suggests we didn't.
'We directly spoke to the player without permission' - you've no proof this happened, but your go to is anti-Levy. The fact that nothings been said since suggests we didn't.
'It was telling that we went very quiet after Forest threatened to report us to the PL for this.' As Bedford said, we were quiet before, we never discuss transfers in public, its not telling at all, but your go to is anti-Levy.
'I believe that fearing a fine and transfer ban, we then backed off' you've no proof this happened.
'I suspect MGWs new contract offer paid him more than we were offering' you've got no proof this is true.
MGW has since come out and said it happened for none of the bollox you made up.
Of course I have no proof. I have never claimed to have proof. I have been very clear that it is all just my opinion.

My reasoning for having that opinion is that Forest came out to the press and said we had made an illegal approach and threatened to report us to the PL for it. We than went very quiet and the deal died. Seems a bit strange for a club to publicly say an illegal approach has been made if it hasn’t doesn’t it? I can only count a few instances of claims of illegal approaches over many years. It isn’t a common allegation.

Not sure why you feel that is anti Levy? He shouldn’t have had any involvement in that and I doubt he did have any involvement in that. It would/should be Lange led. Have you gone and got yourself all upset by a perceived criticism of Levy?

my reasoning for having the opinion that MGW’s new contract paid him more than we were offering is that he signed the new contract. That one seems pretty logical, no?

just as I have no proof and only opinion that we did speak to the player without Forest’s permission you have no proof we didn’t.

We didn't go quiet though -- there was no noise to begin with. Spurs never said anything publicly.

Based on the Marinakis' persona and other press releases and things they've made, I could totally imagine them making up the allegation, or at least embellishing in. I asked Levy in Hong Kong if there was any legal issue and he said no.

If a club publicly accuses you of an illegal approach and threatens to report you to the PL while you are trying to sign one of their players I think you would counter that rather strongly if you hadn’t made an illegal approach.

If no legal issue why didn’t we sign the player?

If we had made an illegal approach do you think Levy would’ve told you? I don’t think I would admit a legal breach to anyone but my legal team.

Of course, he could be lying but I'll believe him over your version of events.

Forest never made a public statement, it was done via their journo mouthpieces. We responded through our journo mouthpieces that we had done nothing wrong, it would delay the deal but we still expected it to go through eventually.

If Forest themselves made a public statement, I expect we would have responded publicly too.
