Morgan Gibbs-White

All fun and games. Levy doesn't tend to lose these battles. The Forest owner is also someone who loves a scrap but I doubt Lange would have left any breadcrumbs if the approach was made before the trigger

They scored nearly as many goals as us last season.

I'd expect a player who was predominantly a central attacking mid to have better numbers if he were an influential player.

His stats suggest he's more of a high press player than creator. Although his progression numbers are good.
Not sure what franks plans are but he seems like he could play with maddison.

How would we be caught red handed? We wouldn't speak to the player directly. We'd probably have an agent contact his agent.

It seems bs anyway. "Secret" release clause? A club could bid a £100mil, then forest don't tell the player. It's ca doing negotiations not eric hall.

If he turned up for a medical without forest accepting the bid maybe.

It’s more that the exact number can’t be shared, as if a club bids that number, they have to accept. That would be the secret part.

But I seriously struggle with the idea we’ve done anything wrong here. Of course we aren’t going to have a multi window transfer ban because of this.

I actually think even if there’s suspicion that we bid the exact amount, it might have just been good work on the part of Lange / Levy whoever else. Like, you could assume MGW moving from Wolves to Forest meant he had a release clause inserted, otherwise it’s a strange lateral move. And then you could also take an educated guess at what that clause might be. It wouldn’t be 40m again as that would be dumb. 80m would be too high as no Forest player would be going for that and the player wouldn’t agree. 60m feels on the money - Forest make a profit, and the player gets his escape route to a better team as long as he’s proved himself.

The balance of probabilities definitely suggests this is toys out of pram from an emotionally volatile owner that has a track record of being exactly like this. I’m not worried.

Do you really believe that Levy would leave us open to that? It's just the Forest chairman throwing a strop.

Also thinking about it, the fact that Palace made the complaint on Chelsea, probably suggested that Palace really did have a case. They are not owners that generally cause a scene, they are a club you can deal with, they operate professionally, so them raising a complaint probably did suggest that Chelsea’s new and inexperienced owners probably went about things in a bit of a cack handed way.

In this instance, we have an owner that is known for throwing a strop, against a club that is known for doing things by the book. I’ll be stunned if this is anything.

Surely only a matter of time before Marinakis ditches NES after he let CL spot slip and replaces him with the national hero who knows how to get the job done…

Spoke with him yesterday apparently.

Maybe the player has some kind of confidentiality clause where they can't divulge details of their contract. But proving this, and how information is shared is impossible. As for players and clubs talking, we once dug our heels in about this too. But now, it seems accepted that agents and clubs talk...not sure you can stop that with contractual obligations.
I'm just irritated these little admin issues can foul things up. Wrong teamsheet submission etc. not so long ago and more.

If there's anything to show that the director's aren't involved in raising standards in the organization it's these like this. Hopefully recent change with Venkat and top level staff will help.

Independent reporting.

Important bit.

"As result, the deal appears to be on hold for now, although Forest are powerless to stop it happening if Spurs go through the proper channels."

It seems to me Forest can either suck it up and take the £60 million

Or

Take it to court, losing, being counter sued and having a player not playing till Jan/no 60 million to rebuild this summer
