Morgan Gibbs-White

I’m definitely surprised with this one. As others have alluded to, that’s MGW / Maddison / Kulu for #10. Obviously Kulu can play wide too, but then we have Johnson and Kudus already there. Not to mention Son, Tel and Odobert for the left too. Can’t fit all of them in the CL squad. Will be interesting to see whether the plan is to sell 1+ players, and who they end up being. Wasn’t expecting anyone other than Sonny to go, at most.

Also I don’t watch much non-Spurs football these days, so have no opinion on MGW. But his stats from last season are interesting - read closer to a no.8 than a pure no.10, though I know he played no.10 on paper:

For those who’ve seen him a lot, any chance he shifts to no.8 for us?

Depends on what our 8 will look like (none of us know Frank's plan)

What I would say is Frank likes his higher CM to both be creative and a hard worker (hence I thought Deki would eventually take Maddison's place), MGW does both those things well.

I think MGW would be a fantastic signing for Frank. I didn't feel he was a great fit for Ange, but do think he'd be great for this next chapter. I've always been a massive fan.

Not since Dele's days have we had a really talented AM that would happily sprint 50-70 yards back into his own half and defend like a 6 or 8. Madds never does. Kulu hasn't got the sprint or defensive capability either.

Stick MGW in our midfield and we immediately become a hard team to play against.

Agreed!

It does look like a move that says more about outs than ins.

Quality player but seems to leave Madders and even Kulu in an odd position. But then again we need genuinely options.

Still I am a tad concerned that Frank is looking at Yves, Bents, Bergvall and Sarr thinking "I can definitely get a solid defensive midfield out of them lot". Maybe he's got it sussed, and I'll look like an idiot for thinking that's where the money should be spent - Fingers crossed.

Neither Maddison or Kulu will be going anywhere.

Frank is building a squad with a very good adaptable starting eleven and a bench to compete when needed.

Rotation is important this is where Frank is improving the squad.

MGW will probably play the Damsgaard role.

Which of the trio misses the CL squad cut? There's going to be some unhappy people if we go for a 30 senior player squad rather than a 25

I don’t is extraordinary to read their thoughts on it. I’ve read just as bad on this forum
There have been plenty criticising him for some time. Whether that is right/wrong can debate all you want, but the idea they have only started being negative towards him since became evident Spurs were getting him is nonsense....
