I don't necessarily agree with the hand wringing, mainly because a lot of the time these same fans don't actually know the game of players they are talking about, but rather they are getting caught up in the hype of a transfer in itself. However, I can understand their frustration because ultimately they want this team to improve and let's be real the easiest and most direct way to improve any team or squad is to bring better players into it. Yes coaching is important but that can only improve things to an extent.
As a Tottenham the fans should by now understand that we simply aren't going to sign anyone with profile and quality, its just not the kind of signing we go for. I think a degree of patience should be expected but of course I don't believe waiting until the season has started or a significant period of preseason has elapsed is acceptable. I guess we will see with time, what improvements we do make, but yes theres no point comparing ourselves with "our peers" as we typically dont shop at the same stores.
