what has happened to the transfer section?

I'd play him behind the striker because he's better than the other three.

While he was once voted the best player in the world it is hard to judge him at the moment because he has not been consistent. Could you justify his wages? Besides if we signed him we would probably play him on the wing like Sig even though he is never a winger.

If Madrid sold those three separately, would their combined fees be as much as we'd get for Bale? I don't think so, personally.

Indeed, Kaka is 30 years old and is on silly money.

ArcspacE I think we would be insane to accept it. Ideally I would rather we not sell, but if we had to I would rather have the £60m to buy players we want as opposed to players Madrid do not want

If we had the same Ade from the previous season we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Alas, we warned about his game dropping off once he signs a new contract. I failed to believe it because I had it in my ears from a Gooner season ticket holder at work. Oh how she delights in taunting me these days

It would take one more final third player for me to be ok with Bale going, so effectively replacing 3/4 of our front four. I don't hate Sigurdsson, I think he's decent, but him playing from the left just doesn't work for me a whole lot.

German side Bayer Leverkusen confirm talks in London about Andre Schurrle

By Graeme Bailey - Tweet me: @graemebailey. Last Updated: April 19, 2013 7:42am

Reports in Germany claim that 22-year-old forward Schurrle has already agreed his part of a deal which could be worth in excess of £20million.

"I was in London and I have had discussions. There is nothing more to say, there is nothing decided yet."
Rudi Voller
Voller travelled to England with general manager Michael Reschke to meet with Chelsea and talk terms over the highly-rated forward.

Asked about a deal with Chelsea, Voller told Bild: "Yes, I was in London and I have had discussions. There is nothing more to say, there is nothing decided yet. "

It is also claimed in the German media that Voller asked Chelsea about the possibility of taking Belgian winger Kevin De Bruyne as part of the deal.

The 21-year-old is currently impressing for Werder Bremen on loan and Bayer are hopeful that they can take De Bruyne on loan for next season.

Tottenham keeper Heurelho Gomes open to return to PSV Eindhoven

Last Updated: April 17, 2013 10:03am

The Brazilian left PSV for Spurs in 2008, but has been a peripheral figure over the past two years and joined Hoffenheim on loan in January.

He is currently recovering from a broken hand suffered earlier this month against Fortuna Dusseldorf and he will not play again this season.

Once he is fit, the 32-year-old is ready to consider his future and he does not believe Spurs will stand in his way of a potential move back to Dutch football in the summer.

"I'm in no hurry and take the time to take the right decision," Gomes told De Telegraaf.

"At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I've always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now."
Heurelho Gomes

"This is an important choice. But first I have to recover from my injury. Next season I want to be in top shape at a new club.

"At PSV, I experienced the best time of my career. I've always said that I would return to PSV. Maybe that time is now.

"My contract at Tottenham Hotspur is only for one more year. I think Tottenham wants to contribute to my leaving now. At this stage of my career, money is not the most important thing. And I have something to offer. I have five or six good years ahead."

FC Twente have also been linked with a bid for Gomes and he added: "I've heard nothing from PSV, but my agent has told me about FC Twente. Returning to the Netherlands is a serious option for me.

"I do not know what PSV want, but I love that club. PSV is forever in my heart."

PSV's sporting director Marcel Brands is keeping an open mind regarding the prospect of bringing Gomes back to the Philips Stadion.

Brands said: "Two years ago, Tottenham wanted £8million for him. Maybe that's all changed now."

How transfers work at #CFC...Andre Schurrle identified by AVB, 2 bids made under RDM, will sign under Benitez - and play for none of them...

Schurrle we'd be in for him too. It just says he was in London. If he was spotted by AVB I'd expect Levy to be all over it.

Very easy to come up with the link....AB wanted him at Chelsea, he's young so fits the profile of players Levy wants and Freund is German so we might see a continuation of German players at WHL (following on from Holtby).

However Schurrle is one of the most hyped up young players in Europe at the moment (I'm not saying whether or not that hype is justified as I havent seen him play enough) and therefore there will be plenty of teams with deeper pockets than us going for him. Utd will be replacing Nani presumably this summer, Man C wold go for him, Chelsea obviously, no reason why the Spanish or PSG wouldn't.....just cant see that we would be able to match the terms others would offer him nor the fee, assuming press speculation of £20m+ is right

Considering the financial mess most Spanish clubs are facing I think that is where we should be scouting the most.

AVB was a scout before and a very good one at that so hopefully he will come up with some good recommendations for us this summer as well.

:ross: Quality tweet, hopefully they're running out of names on that list by now? Let's hope AVB has a big new shiny laminated list ready for this summer!

I think he was a match analyst, which is different to a scout. I think he was there to analyse opposition, rather than talent spot players. I could be wrong but I've never seen anything to suggest he was a talent spotter or there to scout players for the manager. I don't remember ever reading about him being involved in the recruitment of particular players in the way we do other well known scouts. We just see the odd blatantly made up link, such as the idea he identified Schurlle, despite the fact he'd already been a German international for a year before AVB joined Chelsea and was well known to every club in Europe. It's like the absurd ITK rumour than Chelsea were scouting from a list of players identified by AVB! It's just total and utter nonsense.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.

The Cameroon international has failed to really make his mark since moving to Barcelona last summer.

According to the Mirror, both Spurs and Arsenal are ready to offer him a return to North London.

Arsene Wenger has urged Song to wait another season as he tries to adapt to life in Spain, but Spurs could move this summer, especially if they qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, the report also suggests that AC Milan and Monaco will battle it out for Spurs' Benoit Assou-Ekotto for around £6m.

That would allow Andre Villas-Boas to target Southampton's Luke Shaw or Fabio Coentrao of Real Madrid.
