*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace***OMT ***

This game ****ed me off more than any other in living memory. The reasons, in no particular order:

1. Townsend's completely inept performance. How is this idiot getting a game?

2. That ****ing drummer and the Palace repetitive chanting.

3. Poch's refusal to make changes, even when the game was meandering after we scored. why didn't he bring Lennon on for Townsend?

4. The ref, incompetent!

5. The inane anti Spurs drivel coming out of the mouth of that Gooner cnut in the commentary box- Niall Quinn.

We missed Lamelas energy as much as anything else. At least he tried to make things happen...

Back to type for the season. Awful. We need to face however close we get to the top 4, we're not close to it. We just need to hope for a cup win to get anything out of this season.

3 thoughts:

we missed mason and bentaleb desperately.

Eriksen played like a little girl.

Pen decisions were determining factor.

Yes to all, I would add Capoue's name to point 1

Sigh. Like I said, it was a game that was absolutely waiting for us to slip up ,and we did. We are going to miss Bentaleb very, very badly: ditto Mason. Stambouli's penalty concession aside (forgivable mistake) he was rash when he did go into challenges and painfully exposed defensively during most of the other periods of the game. We looked slower in possession and slow to close down, and in a game like this, that was asking to be beaten.

Incredibly reactive statement. Up until the penalty he has played his best game. Good in possesion and amazing under pressure. Then he goes and spoils it. For me he got some of the ball but he gave the Ref a chance to make a decision and he did. He should not be even making a challenge in the box there, it was not needed.

Dembele was one of our better players. Always showing and good in possesion. His early passing in the second half set up our best chances. But Chadli and Townsend were awful, they did nothing on the ball and were just standing there defensively. Eriksen did not have one of his best games but he was still around, still showed nice touches and keep it tidy if not spectacular.

Soon as they equalizsed we should have stabalized. But Poch lost us the game for me here. He made too many changes. Suddenly we have two up front and three defensive midfielders on the pitch. He takes of townsend but the move was to bring on lennon. Capoue for me is not very good defensively. And dont get me started on Soldado. It forced Kane to play deeper and we lost our cutting edge with it.

What goes around, comes around.
Previously we got lucky (including refs' decisions) several times.
Stupid mistakes in defence, needless Stambouli's tackle, put our foot from the gas while winning 1-0. Weak midfield. I already miss both Mason and Bentaleb.

We robbed rich and gave away to the poor.
Robin Spur.

**** ref **** **** ref

I thought Foy was **** but that is the biggest **** ref I have seen

How can you get that **** wrong you are five ****ty yards away

Ah stop. I've seen it a half dozen times and I'm still not sure if it was a pen. Can understand why the ref gave it.

Capoue was terrible when he came on.
Dembele was weak when we needed him to stand up and fight.

Absolutely sick of ****ing melts going on and on and on about Chelski result and this result when the central midfield was 100% different in both personnel and style. Yes, Dembele came on in that game, but Bentaleb and later Paulinho were there to help keep things fluid.

But Poch is well aware of the situation. He's trying to get a proper 25 man squad, and he's trying to shift the deadweight strollers. One of those came on today and I personally hope he never, ever plays for us again.

That ref was disgraceful though. Never a pen and clear, clear trip on Kane in the box ignored. Numerous free kicks given for what?

Onwards and upwards. COYS!

Agree with this all day.
No idea what Capoue is doing back on the fringes of the team.
Puncheon's goal just showed the usual gaps Dembele and Capoue leave.

I'm not hugely bothered by one result. I thought we had no chance of getting 4th and should be playing the likes of Veljkovic ahead of Capoue.
Hopefully this will result in a further rethink by Poch.

Absolutely no surprise. From the day Pardew was appointed it was clear to me we would not win this match. Although without Bolasie and Jendinak I thought we might snatch a point.
I should be gutted, but funnily enough I am just a bit disappointed as quite frankly I didn't expect us to win. 40 years of supporting Spurs and most of the time you just know whats coming.

Hopefully now the powers-that-be might see that some of this squad are plainly not good enough

We lost it when he brought Capoue on... He is awful.

Townsend was poor but was an outlet.

The capoue sub meant we changed shape to some mixed bag and we looked awful

This. Our problems stemmed from our utter inability to control possession in the second half, or to close down Palace's lads anywhere near as effectively as we closed down Chelsea's players. That is squarely down to the DMs in the system, whose job it is to organise the pressing around them and actively contribute to winning and then keeping possession. We don't have the personnel to cope with the loss of Bentaleb and Mason, and that's done us in today (along with what I suspect was a bit of underestimation of Palace).

I hope Poch gets the squad he wants, but a little bald man may yet decide to prevent that happening for whatever reasons. Either way, this loss isn't down to Poch, or the system.

1. Agree. He was useless. And I Want him to do well.

2. TO be fair their support was amazing. Constant and all game long.

3. Agree. He made the wrong choices at the wrong time and lost us that game.

4. Agree. Their pen. And Kane deserved one.

5. Got me angry to. He said they were on top as soon as they had 5 mins possesion in the first half. Said there was a locked on pen. Said Walkers hand was a definite handball in his view. And said KAnes was not a penalty. I get sick of having Quinn or Gooner Smith on our games. ****es me right off.

Sorry but I feel entitled to mention the comparison between the results. If we can put out a team that beats the best team in the Country then we sure as **** should be able to assemble a team that can beat what we saw out there today. Calling people a melt is pretty rediculous mate.

Aaaaaaaaand back to earth with a bump. Being Tottenham it is to be expected that we follow up beating Chelsea with a loss to a team in the relegation zone. Stinker.

Thought a draw would have been a fair result. Didn't think their first was a penalty, i don't know if Stambouli got the ball but i swear Ledley threw himself down with little if any contact between them. Kane should have had one, thats a number of times hes been caught and got absolutely nothing. I don't know why refs won't give him a foul because these are clear cut decisions.

Thought the centre mids got involved in some decent defensive work but we were missing some thrust from them today. I was surprised to see Capoue bought on. Didn't offer anything but then neither did Soldado.

I really think we need 2-3 players to give us further options in centre mid to cover/challenge Mason and Bentaleb and from an attacking perspective, unfortunately that means we quickly need to get rid of deadwood.

Disappointing.

Ha ha. Your positivity is completely unwarranted here. We didn't lose through luck we thoroughly deserved to lose. No question. Too many players well below par. Same story against lower ranked teams. We don't create nearly enough . Their keeper never had a thing to do all game. Lloris by contrast had a few key saves to make. Poch has trouble raising us up for these type of games. We seriously need to recruit in at least three key places IMO. Some players simply not good enough.

In your opinion. And I think you are failing to see what Pochettino is trying to do long-term with the squad and the club. I will tell you I know for a fact that he thinks at least 8-9 players are absolutely replaceable and would happily do so if circumstance would allow. he is shuffling the hand he's got and making the best of it. What the **** can he do with wasters like Capoue foisted on him? He has to be careful how many kids he drafts in at a time. He has to be careful how he manages the squad he's got. As for your proclamation at the end about recruitment, you genuinely think you're alone in that thought?

Nah. Get behind the manager. Unless you cannot see what he is trying to do.

We lost the game in central midfield.
If Mason isn't back Eriksen and Veljkovic to start there against Burnley please.
We might play with a tempo once again.

Agreed. We did'nt lose because of the ref no matter how much we may want to cling to that. Of course, some of our players are not good enough but the players we did have out there, were better then those who Crystal Palace had. But we still lost. No excuses. None.
