The transfer thread

So you were expecting it done within 15 months of Ange’s arrival? Then the same the applies. The disappointment is on you.

Look at any other successful team and how long it took them.
I wouldn't expect it to be done in 15 months, thats unrealistic but I can see the concern with some of the things we've done or haven't done this window. We haven't addressed the attacking third as yet and we have 2 weeks remaining before the first match. It doesn't feel like we are likely to get a player in and settled in time for that match and for me that's a concern.

Ange may feel differently and may feel that his attackers are good enough but I'm not sure what for? An attempt at top 4 maybe but nothing beyond that for me. Which is fine if we achieve it but I'm unconvinced tbh, I really don't rate the forwards in this team and I would have wanted that to be addressed along with the DM. Again maybe Gray is the answer for the DM position but hes not really been used there in preseason and we've all heard the talk that he actually prefers and plays more like an 8.

I do like that we have continued pruning the squad of the excess and I do think that will help going forward but I can't lie and say I think incomings wise it's been a resounding success so far. I'm not sure if we are improved as it is. If so, it appears to be rather marginal.

Personally would get rid of Bissouma, hasn't turned out to be the player I thought he was.
Would replace him with Tijjani Reijnders, the Dutch midfielder at AC Milan. Impressed at the Euros and can do a bit of everything, and as far as I could see doesn't ball-watch like Biss and let his man stroll pass him.

That’s a position we need to strengthen as I agree with you on Bissouma. Showed glimpses but ultimately not been consistent at all.

Paul O'Keefe reckons we've got 3 transfers ready to go. Just waiting for their current teams to give them the go ahead (although he wasn't sure if yang was one of the 3). He's about the only itk that seems legit apart from romano.
So we'll see.

Think moore/gray/bergvall and possibly lankshear. Will improve the squad this season.

A £40m DM has not fixed our biggest hole at DM?

We've also fixed our FB cover (Spence and Donley) and 10/8 cover (Bergvall and Devine) from within. Austin has arguably sorted back-up keeper too.

Its only RW, and maybe CF, left now that maybe needs a tweak or two
Donley will be going out on loan, I doubt his long term future will be at left back

It seems we have had 3 players ready to go for a very long time

No but its a good pathway into the team and he can shift into #10 as he develops.

But if the choice now if him backing up Udogie in cup games, versus spending 20m on a journeyman specialist LB probably similar to Regulion, its an easy decision

I think Veliz definitely will. But Lankshear might be a tough one as he's possibly ready for a lower EPL one, rather than a championship one, but relegation battlers will rarely trust kids to be the main man (some do e.g. Sheff U with James McAtee)

I still think we'll make a big move for Doue after the Olympics. I think he's another Bergvall or Dragusin where we've put a lot of groundwork in on and will see off the bigger money competition.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the thinking — I’d love a new striker or right winger to take us to the next to the next level (as well as every other position.) But I think you just have to trust the process. We have a really good setup with Munn, Lange and Ange who all clearly know their remit and what they want. We’re not just settling for any player to fill a role, and that means we probably won’t sign as many players as the fans want.

Last season a GK and a LCB were probably our two biggest requirements…and boy did it work out — VDV a few days before the season started, too. I’d love us to pull an attacker out of nowhere like those two. But if it doesn’t happen, I won’t panic…just continue to enjoy watching us evolve.

If he's for the right wing ok. Lw is stocked. Especially with moore coming through.

We're spurs fans, if at any point you don't feel worried you haven't been paying attention.
How you start the season is pretty much irrelevant, it's how you finish it.
Let's just wait and see.

Tbf it's the whole season that counts. You lose the first 19 and win the second 19, it's the same result as the opposite.
