The race for 86 points

And jinx it all, you mean? :p

I was discussing with my mate who, of all players in the Premier League, would go straight into our current team. There really aren't many. The only thing we both agreed on was we'd like a Hazard type player. Not entirely sure who he'd step in for without making our team too attacking. Possibly Eriksen, but he's been pivotal for us in the last few months.

We could always do with better backup for certain positions, but the problem is obviously bringing in better players than the ones we have just to sit on the bench for larger parts of the season.

Conclusion - we have damned good team. If we can largely keep this group of players, and keep them happy, over the coming years, we're going to be on to something. Just a bloody shame about playing at Wembley next season. :(

Interesting way of looking at it. I guess Azpilicueta would get in ahead of Dier (right sided CB in a back three) but yeah otherwise I wouldn't swap any of our first eleven for anyone else.

NO WAY! He's their biggest liability in defence. Just look at the games where Chelski struggle. It's Azpilicueta that's being targeted in most of those games.

I actually don't think that's the case ... most teams have been targeting Cahil in my opinion.

Their both a minor weakness but have also been pretty much excellent all season

Side show bob for me has been their standout player above everyone (including Kante and Hazard). Everything starts from their defence and he has basically played like Toby (I know it's a sin to compare anyone with him)

Chelsea have had the same luck that Leicester had last season with injuries.
We had 'luck' with injuries in Poch's first season. We were just not in a place to really capitalise on it.

I think what really helps with form and injuries is no Europe. Gives you many more weeks free of a midweek game and of course a load less travelling.

.. as well as time to focus and work on a plan to counter the opposition.

I agree, I know a lot of people feel we should be playing in european competitions and fall back on Bill Nick saying something along the lines of "if we aren't in europe we're nothing" but that was a different age, european football was a chance to play different teams and a break from the league, there weren't the massive amount of clubs and games involved. Now there is too much of it and the real excitement only gets going in the knockout stages. Although financially not as beneficial to the clubs a straight knockout competitions would be far more interesting.

I don't think we've had horrendous luck with injuries either, despite all the moaning on here about it. Feels like we've had a normal amount which you might expect; its just that cheatski haven't had many at all.

Fair comment but its a big downside against last year which is why our injuries stand out

And in comparison to Chelsea we are light years apart

They love to highlight it a they regularly have players out long term like wheelchair, Rosicky, Wellbeck etc... IMO thats manageable a you can plan for that but having players out for a block of a few months mid season is far more damaging as you can't plan for it and it stretches the squad

And if course Arsenal are notorious at mismanaging injuries

this table does not take into consideration how many of those injuries were from players from the first choice starting 11? Because if you have 2 players injured all season but they would not normally make the match day squad or at best would not normally start on the bench then it does not really tell the whole picture.

The table might give one injured player a week one point but Josh Onomah or Georges-Kévin N'Koudou out for 2 or 3 months season is not the same as Kane or Rose out for the same period

They should start by making the CL for champions of their Lges, like it used to be. It's a joke of a competition now and its just about making money.

I'd like to see it put down to top 2 from the top leagues plus 1 from second tier leagues with play-offs for the rest. No more than 24 teams. Means that the Europa/UEFA/whatever would get more importance too, like it used to have.
