The Other Clubs Transfer Rumours and News Thread

And the same article in the Times states that Levy will not sanction any purchase over 10m.
Can this be true??
Whilst it seems on the face of it unlikely, the evidence doesn't suggest otherwise!

LFC have just signed Coutinho.
Say what you like, but their movements in the transfer market show that they recognise their weaknesses and are prepared to spend some money trying to address.

Don't think it has gone through yet. Inter want to make sure they get Paulinho first.

The evidence does suggest otherwise.

We have bought loads of players for more than £10 million during Levy's time at the club - including two this past summer!

If we can get the right player for the right money - even if that money is £20 million - I'm quite sure that Levy will sanction it.

Dont forget Liverpool for all their faults still bring in a lot of revenue each year. I know they have a higher wage bill but I expect they still have more money than us left over for transfers.

Coutinho is a punt. He's played barely 30 minutes of football for Inter in 2 seasons. He doesn't have much of an end product but he does have some silky skills that can look good when they come off. He is maybe a punt worth taking at a reasonable price but more likely to be a dos santos. Wasn't much interest in him at the fee inter wanted.

You can't say he's a serious attempt by Liverpool to address weaknesses in their squad, they're too weak in midfield to challenge for top 4 so they go out and buy a midfielder a team that is barely in Italy's top 4 deemed surplus to requirements? He's just a punt for the future like sigurdsson was for us!
