The new, new manager thread - Pt 3

The GOAT gets stuff wrong. Alot.

Anyway I am glad our chairman is taking his time with this, he obviously wants to make the right decision and I imagine deep down he does want a Wenger type who stays for the long run and becomes part of the clubs anatomy.

Has Rafa ruled himself out then? As all I'm hearing is fdb vs pouch. Both are risks that can go very wrong, Rafa is much more of a safe bet to have us competitive and bring in some silverware... We might even get a win at the bridge

you seem to be getting quite angry about this Rossi

It is rather annoying though don't you think?

I mean it's as if Levy is some sort of weirdo masochist or something. If Benitez is an option then why overthink things? i mean why is there even a need to think about anything?

Just saw Rossi's post. Glad I'm not the only one.

By far our safest bet.

not really, all the threads on our potential new manager have seen good arguments put forward for all 3 of the candidates which appear to be the front runners. i don't think anyone can look at all the arguments put forward and write off anyone's opinions on who they think is best suited to the job - in doing so i think you're doing a great disservice to the time and thought people have put in to putting their arguments across. (not that YOU are, but it certainly appears over the past couple of pages that is exactly what Rossi is doing)

you only have to look at our supporters reaction to the football which AVB produced to second guess whether Benitez is the right man for the job, in fact i find it funny that there are posters who seemingly hated his approach to the game yet want Benitez as manager - a man who's football is as every bit as dull as AVBs IMO. then look at the money he has had to spend at the clubs throughout his career and think has he shown that he can work under the financial constraints he will have to work under here? i don't think he has, so all of a sudden that 'safe bet' becomes more of a question mark to me. this pretty quick questioning of things goes to show that it's as naive to assume Benitez will succeed because he done well with Liverpool Valncia and Chelsea as it is to simply assume FdB will succeed because he won titles with Ajax.

delve a little deeper in to all candidates and you'll see positives and negatives for each, i don't think anyone who has posted frequently in these threads has simply looked at any candidate and wrote them off or bigged them up purely on the surface of what they have achieved. everyone has their own selection process and not one of them is a sure thing - hence why opinion is so split.

I wonder if Levy is waiting til next week to see if Ancellotti keeps his job...

Even if he loses will he be sacked straight away, and won't there be other clubs interested. Although he along with Rafa would be the only two we should look at if their available.

On one hand you have Rafa Benitez waiting for a call, a proven winner in England, Spain, Italy and in European competition but instead we want half the team and manager of a side who got trounced 6-1 by Salzburg. Only at Spurs.

Benitez isnt perfect either you know......he is trying to buy Agger and mascherano at the moment, how would you feel if he started making signings like this at Spurs?? He signed a lot of rubbish at Liverpool amongst the odd jewel like Torres and Alonso. I think Levy and a section of Spurs fans would rightly be worried what kind of squad he would construct.

Mascherano would be a great signing. Agger's too similar to Vertonghen though. Rather those two than Daley Blind and Windmill van der Clogs.

i know they have previous and they have just thrown away the title but there has been something about Madrid under Ancelotti this season, he's turned them into a team, i'd be very surprised if they fire him

actually i dont even think Benitez is an option, from his side of things.......Napoli are in the CL, they will fight for the Serie A title next season, they have a world class striker in Higuain, a top attacking id in Hamsik, the chairman there has been very supportive of Benitez with any player he wants to bring in. Why on earth would he leave Napoli for Spurs????

Fair enough.

I see the positives to all 3 but FDB would be far behind the other 2 candidates for me (and Poch would be behind Rafa of course). FDB hasn't really achieved anything to write home about but i do like that he favours 4-3-3.

[NaE=Rossi22;559610]So why does Neil Lennon get a ":D naaaaaa"? But FdB is the man we have to get? Both are successful managing in 2nd rate one team leagues and the only difference between the two in Europe is that Neil Lennon has managed to take his side past the CL group stage unlike FdB. It's purely appearance and perception. FdB is Dutch and has played for Barcelona, whereas Neil Lennon's a ginger Northern Irish bloke who played for Leicester City.[/QUOTE]

Obviously getting a bit personal for you mate I might be a ginger northern bloke for all you know and you obviously have never been wrong in your life im at work and don't really have the time or the inclination to have a argument with somebody who is right regardless so your right you win I know naff all I just picked him because of he's superior teeth they are very white and if im honest im a little bit envious

Come on poch GHod hes good the messiah ;)
