Battings Definitely the weaker side of our game.

player - form
Brown - poor season
Cook - not bad / solid
Westley - excellent
Lawrence - poor until he signed for Surrey and then excellent!
Kushi / Pepper /Das - young, unpredictable, but loads of potential
Critchley - excellent
Rossington - poor season

think there should be some runs amongst that lot though. Harmer’s in decent form with the bat as well, the last 3 are rabbits.

Walter has become pretty decent for us which has helped, talk of him opening with Cook, think he did that before when we won the Championship in the run in.

I think Essex batters are a victim of the pitch being set up to suit the bowlers, we give with one hand and take away with the other in that respect and have for year. I remember going to watch nearly every game one summer with Masters took an absolute shed load of wickets bowling 70mph on a pitch that they famously dumped stones on it every morning to help him (although he is up there as one of my favourite Essex players of all time)

Yeh I didn't realise till last night, its a joke TBH, he is right up there in terms of importance to England Cricket. Roy looked done when I saw him in the hundred. I know he can be all or nothing, but when I saw him he was gifting his wicket
