The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

If Pritchard is really as good as it seems, should he not be around the first team by now? He is 19 after all.

I hope he breaks through soon, but his size may be a major problem. He probably needs to grow a little more in height and strength.

If our U-18s can win at West Ham United in the FA Youth Cup on 22nd January, we have a home tie in the 5th Round against either Reading or Bolton Wanderers

Edit: Make that Bolton, as they won 2-0 away at Reading.

RAMSEY ON U21s

Chris Ramsey was pleased to see our footballing principles stick despite the snowy conditions as we opened up Phase Two of Barclays Under-21 Premier League with an impressive 5-1 win against Wolves on Monday.

The snow fell progressively heavier throughout the match and eventually settled on the playing surface but that did little to stop the team getting off to a flyer in the Elite Group.

Goals from Jon Obika (2), Andros Townsend’s fine free-kick, Tom Carroll and Yago Falque saw the team home as they now aim for a place in the top three and the knockout stage of the competition.

“The performance showed our character in terms of sticking to the philosophy of how we want to play, regardless of the conditions,” said Chris, our Senior Professional Phase Coach.

“At times we’ll come a cropper, but we did really well against Wolves, created a lot of chances.

“Wolves actually gave us a very good game and might have scored another couple of goals, but everyone did it right and we were lucky to have the likes of Jake Livermore, Tom Carroll and Ryan Mason in midfield and it doesn’t get much better than that – it’s a Premier League midfield.

“We want to progress to the semi-finals and hopefully beyond and this is the first of maybe 10 wins we’ll need to get there. The main thing is to stick to the way we want to play and at the same time, showing that level of consistency.”

Cebellos is meant to be quality as well, Real have been looking at him apparently.

Wonder what the integration plans are for trying to bring some of these players into the 1st team, as you can now have 7 subs there is surely room for 1 or 2 of them to be on the bench for matchday experience if nothing else.

11 mins: West Ham 0-1 Spurs

McEvoy dribbles into the box & times a cross perfectly for Michael-Percil sliding in at far post for 1-0!

17 mins: GOAL 2-0 SPURS - Michael-Percil crosses from the right & a lovely angled volley finish from Coulthirst makes it 2-0

22 mins: GOAL 3-0 SPURS - McGee's clearance went all the way through to McEvoy, who calmly slotted home 1:1 for 3-0

Been thinking this for a while myself. Granted games like Man Utd we couldnt have taken the gamble, but really thought someone like Cebellos,Pritchard, etc; could have got a spot on the bench v Reading, or certainly Coventry City
