The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Tottenham's Academy Manager & Head of Coaching is now John McDermott.

McDermott has been in that role for five years or more.

He's not the U18 team manager.

My guess is that either Chris Ramsey or Tim Sherwood has taken over that role for the moment.

My guess is that either Chris Ramsey or Tim Sherwood has taken over that role for the moment.

Well according to the NextGen site today, McDermott was credited as being the U19 team's coach.

Wycombe have announced that Spurs goalkeeper Jordan Archer has extended his loan spell with the npower League Two side until the end of the season.

Norwich boss Chris Hughton hopes on-loan Tottenham forward Harry Kane could return to action soon after impressing in rehabilitation with a broken metatarsal.

The England U-19 international had made just three appearances for the

Canaries when he hobbled out of a Capital One Cup tie against Doncaster in September with a foot injury.

Kane is now stepping up his rehabilitation after returning from treatment at White Hart Lane and could be available for the Boxing Day visit of Chelsea and a home clash with Emirates Marketing Project.

Hughton said: "Harry has completed about five days training in total, four of them with Tottenham. He is at the stage now where he has to keep developing his fitness.

"We have to determine over this next week or so when he is available for games. I think he has done a lot of good rehab, which is good news for us.

"I feel for the lad because he came here with a real spring in his step.

"The good thing is he is young and the type of injury he had, he will make a full recovery from, possibly for Christmas, but it is too soon to assess yet. He needs a week's training."

Norwich will be desperate to bounce back from the 4-1 midweek Capital One Cup quarter-final defeat at home to Aston Villa and former boss Paul Lambert when Wigan head to Norfolk on Saturday.

Now targeting a fifth successive league win, Hughton added: "It wasn't difficult to pick them up because we are on a good run at the minute.

"We had managed to get ourselves into the quarter-finals of the cup competition and were probably just beaten on the day by a more clinical side.

"We have done well. I can't fault the endeavours of the lads, but it wasn't to be. We have to get back to basics and continue the league form."

Spurs have been drawn away to West Ham United in the 4th Round of the FA Youth Cup, providing we can beat Cheltenham first.

Just read up about the qualification rules and the article above is correct - the four best third placed teams go through.

So even if Liverpool beat Inter in their final game, the worst we can finish is as fourth best third placed team from the six groups, since two other third placed teams - Emirates Marketing Project and Marseille - have already finished their group stage with less points (City) or a worse goal difference (Marseille) than us.

Yup, I made that observation about 2 weeks ago.

The last U21 Premier League matches of the first part of the season will be played tonight as Aston Villa host Tottenham Hotspur (KO 19:00).

The three other fixtures are Norwich City v West Ham (KO 13:00), Emirates Marketing Project v Fulham (KO 14:00) & Southampton v Saudi Sportswashing Machine (KO 19:00).

Harry Kane is playing in Norwich City's U21 match v West Ham at the moment.

He scored two, won a penalty for the third and played 65 minutes before being replaced with Norwich 3-0 up.

UNDER-21S AIM FOR FITTING FINALE AT VILLA PARK

Our Under-21s face a showdown with Aston Villa for top spot in the Barclays U21 Premier League on the main stage at Villa Park tonight.

Both teams can still win National Group Two of the newly-formed league and meet in their 12th and final match of the first half of the season.

We top the group on goal difference from United - who sit second, having completed their fixtures - and two points clear of Villa in third.

A point will be enough us to clinch top spot although our place in the Elite Group in the second half of the season is all-but secured, barring a double-figure loss tonight.

Villa, meanwhile, need at least a point to have a chance of taking the best third-placed spot in the Elite Group.

"We're sitting top of the league having played the style of football we want to play," said Senior Professional Phase Coach, Chris Ramsey.

"We've also seen players impress and get an opportunity with the first team and that's obviously the main role of the Development squad, so it's worked out well.

"As far as this game goes, we'll go to Villa, look to win and look to top the group. It's all about finishing this first group stage in the right way."

Kick-off is at 7pm tonight

Yeah looks a good team, anyone got the Villa team? Checked windycoys and there's not much about the game on it...

Glad to see Kane has started playing again, nice comments from Hughton, will be very difficult for him to work his way in to the side with the run that norwich are on at the moment but it sounds like he's got the right attitude for that kind of challenge.
