The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

Going with 5 other mates to the NextGen game tomorrow. One of them just told me that he's heard that 10,000 - yes, ten thousand - tickets have already been sold! West stand sold out. East lower rapidly filling up.

Incredible, if true.

Will be an awesome atmosphere for the kids - of both sides. Will it make or break them?

Wow! The timing is good with us not having played for a couple of weeks and being away this weekend but that is seriously impressive if true. I am really looking forward to this. I hope that the club see the enthusiasm for this and play more NextGen games at grounds where we can attend.

I guess that playing against Barca's famous La Masia academy team has helped to swell the crowd. I doubt that the demand will be quite as high for Anderlecht!

That said, the publicity from the 1882 group, and the 600 tickets that they've bought (us included!) has certainly helped.

I agree and doubtless the club do not want too many more games at the Lane (it must cost quite a lot of money to stage a game there). 1882 have done a great job, it'll be really strange (and great fun) being in a noisy west stand tomorrow night. It would be good if we could try and play some of the games at smaller grounds nearish by (Orient, Stevenage, Barnet...)

We seem to have one of the best sides and continually do so for the past few years in the world. Why are more of these players not making the step up ?

On the train up from Portsmouth now. Few beers in front of me and a sunny day have lightened my mood. Had a shocker yesterday, bike was stolen and nothing seemed to be going right onwrds and upwards, COYS

It's only over the past 7-8 years that our academy has been properly run, with a vision for the future. We are starting to see a much better pool of players coming through our youth ranks - Caulker, Livermore, Kane, Luongo, Carroll, Townsend, Smith, Mason etc. Even if only a few of them make it at Spurs, quite a few of the others will have a future as a Premier League or Championship player. We weren't producing many of those a few years ago.

In the past few seasons former Academy players like Jake Livermore, Cameron Lancaster, Adam Smith and Harry Kane have all made their Premier League debuts for Spurs with many more playing competitive Domestic & European cup football for the first team.

Leaving work soon gonna drive there haven't driven to a spurs game in years will the Irish centre do parking on a night like tonight?

For those who cannot make the game, it's on Eurosport at 7pm!

Spurs U19s v Barcelona

Vigouroux

A McQueen Ball Veljkovic Stewart

Gallifuoco Dombaxe

McEvoy Bentaleb Pritchard

Coulibaly

Spurs can count themselves slightly unlucky to go-in at halftime a goal down.

It's been a pretty even game so far with perhaps Spurs having the better of the chances.

Pritchard looks like a very good player indeed - almost ready for the Premier League.

Coulibaly's turn there in the box was superb, his feet were so quick, it got the defender of guard. Very impressed. Pritchard also of course looks good.

Also noticeable we were pressing as high as possible, even closing down their keeper. If we are planning on having a playing system throughout the club, I'm surprised the first team haven't been doing it - they certainly weren't against Norwich.

Maybe that was by design, AVB setting them up in a way that was going to work, and then saying 'Now, if you do this, you'll fly' and that's what will happen. I literally still cannot figure out that Norwich performance for the life of me.

I thought we started very nervously, actually both teamd did. Lots of poor first touches and poor passing. It got a bit better later on in the half though. Barca scored on their only proper chance after soem poor defending. We have had a couple of good chances, but we're not creating a lot either.
I think Pritchard has been our bigest threat. NUmber 10 (is that Bentaleb?) has also shown some decent stuff. McQueen and McEvoy have also been reasonably lively down our right side. Our center backs look pretty poor. One of them in particular looks very slow. Our left back is also struggling with a quick winger on his side. I also think our central midfielders, Dombaxe, and the other guy whose name I don't know, have found it difficult. Dombaxe in particular.
