Naughton is on his way back don't forget. So we have Walker, Naughton and Kaboul as backup and we haven't sold Charlie yet... Add to that Adam Smith making his debut and I'd be surprised if we'd misuse our budget this way. Naughton has looked a good prospect at Norwich, I don't see why we'd look at bringing another RB in.

In fact, with Vertonghen coming in, it actually looks like we'll have cover for LB as well with Naughton and Vert both able to play well in that position.

Is Adam Smith good enough yet for a Premier League loan do you think?

Tottenham are closing in on Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles.

The Daily Star says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is lining up a ?ú1m bid for Lascelles, 18.

Spurs have monitored the England Under-19 defender for the last 18 months and he has also been watched by Arsenal and Chelsea.

Forest rejected an initial ?ú2m offer from the Gunners last season but are bracing themselves for more approaches this summer.

So they're going to accept half of what they've already rejected? :|

Forest are currently on the verge of a takeover. Would be strange if they sold him before that is settled.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine's chief scout, Graham Carr, has signed a new eight-year contract, the club have confirmed.

The deal is a key step in owner Mike Ashley's plans to drive Saudi Sportswashing Machine forward in the coming years, as he looks to secure continued success in the Premier League and allow the club to become a consistent presence in European club competition, a statement from the club said.

Northumberland-born 67-year-old Carr has played a key role in helping the club to identify talented players including Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiot?®, Yohan Cabaye, Patinkle Ciss?® and Sylvain Marveaux.

Carr's long-term deal is part of Saudi Sportswashing Machine's growth plan, after finishing in fifth place in the Premier League last term.

Carr is a former Northampton and York player who also managed in the lower divisions and non-league, before scouting for Tottenham Hotspur and Emirates Marketing Project. He joined Saudi Sportswashing Machine in February 2010, and has been a lifelong fan.

The club's managing director, Derek Llambias, said: "We are delighted to have agreed an eight-year deal with Graham, and very pleased that he has committed his long-term future to the club.

"He has been instrumental in helping us to bring some truly exceptional players to Saudi Sportswashing Machine and he has deservedly built one of the best reputations in the business.

"Graham works tirelessly to identify talented young players from across the world and has done a magnificent job over the last two years. He has the complete faith and support of the owner, the board and the manager, and it is excellent news that the club will continue to benefit from his expertise for many years to come."
