I don't recall seeing any reliable (or any?) report saying a club is paying part of a player's wages after a transfer (can you get paid "wages" by anyone other than an employer?). In contrast its often reported for loans.

However, it may just be a pedantic point. There are plenty of ways of paying equivalent compensation (payoffs in installments, delayed loyalty payments, etc).

insidefutbol.com?

Yes, I've seen similar claims on such sites, including the Aquilani claim ("Liverpool are believed to be subsidising the player's salary shortfall ...).

I think that just backs up my statement that "I don't recall seeing any reliable ... report saying a club is paying part of a player's wages after a transfer".

@EPLStuff: Leandro Damião's agent: "I am here in England & there may well be a new offer from Tottenham for Damião, but nothing is official yet."

Internacional vice president Luciano Davi also confirmed that no bid had been received, but indicated that the club would consider a sale if the player wished to depart.

Davi said: "There has been no official offer for Damião. We don't intend to sell him because we have problems in attack, but we can't rule out a sale. It will depend on the will of the player. Damião has already proved himself to be worth much more than €20 million.
