Pray Tel

So much flimflam and whinging because we didn't get one player. He only wants to go out on loan and we wanted a permanent deal, get over it.
"We're not attractive anymore" yet Bergvall chose us over Barcelona. Every club looses out on players.
If we try we might get the player, we might get rejected, if we don't try we've no chance of getting them.
But yeah, any excuse to have a go at Levy, it's just getting boring at this stage.
It’s true it’s all so boring and repetitive

At times, people write as if they are ignorant of how transfers work. Spurs is not the first neither will it be the last to not successfully buy a player. This will not be the only time Spurs do not successfully sign a player.

How that translates into lambasting the club is strange IMHO and instead says more about the person than the club.

Jesus Christ...none of us has an idea of why the deal failed but a lot of people online seem to be using it as a stick to beat Levy with.

I'd never really heard of the lad before 24 hours ago so not too worried about it. Even if I had, fact is that only Emirates Marketing Project have done significantly more business than us in January and they're basically cheating. Furthermore, players sometimes turn down clubs. United failed to get De Jong. Liverpool failed to get the lad from Sociedad. These things happen.

There's still time to get someone in anyway but these are massive, complicated, multi-million pound decisions. I don't want us spunking money on players solely in reaction to an injury crisis because, frankly, that's a bloody stupid way to run a football club.

Did you read what I said? It’s not just about this failing, it’s the failing across this window and beyond.

I'm not too fussed.
It was the "full cost" of someone like Tel; it wasn't some crazy opportunity to get a top level player for some bargain price due to his contract ending or something, it was just a very good player at a top price.

I'm pleased we tried. I'm pleased we have 60m ish for the right player.

Maybe a player like Tel would be more right for us in a couple of years if we're fighting right at the top, but it does feel a drop to go from Bayern Munich, Champions League, guaranteed trophies, to Spurs. I can see why he would rather go to Liverpool or whatever.

Levy really should have realised and not tried to sign a highly talented player that's on the market and identified by the transfer team as someone we would really want. Just give up on high profile targets and try to sign someone you're certain of getting. Better for the optics.

I posted on here why we would find it really difficult to do decent business in this window despite all of the injuries. In fact, the injury situation will be a huge red flag for any potential player we try to sign. I don't care what we will have told Tel, in the back of his mind he'll be thinking "I'm wanting to leave Bayern because I don't play enough, but Spurs have only contacted me after Solanke and Johnson are out and they have Richarlison, Odobert, Moore back....." whereas if we had a fit and firing squad and wanted him ironically it probably gives him more long term confidence. That's leaving aside the fact we are 15th and in a form doom cycle with a toxic supporter atmosphere. Why would you want to join us if you are a player like Tel?.

Do not let facts get in the way of those who want to rant.

Not thanks to levy at all. He went over to Munich to secure.

That's to the manager who has us in 15th.

I'm sorry. You can't moan about levy and ignore the fact we are 15th

Thanks to Levy and directors that seem to be more enthusiastic about us as a business than as a football club. We were well placed in 2017/18 to push on from there but we failed to invest in the players that were needed even though the stadium apparently didn’t affect our ability in the transfer market. So we have fallen and fallen. Now we miss out on Tel and I’m feeling completely fudged off with where we are as a football club. Fed up.
