Other Clubs - Rumours and Discussion

if Liverpool sell Suarez for 40 mill to Chelsea, will they go and buy Darren Bent for 25 mill??

a bit of insight into this Suarez to Chelsea spec/rumour............

Last night there were rumours on social networks that Arsenal were on the verge of signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, largely due to claims made by betting companies that odds had been slashed on the deal because of a large influx of bets. That probably caused another large influx of bets and sometimes seems to be how these things work.

It didn't make sense. Suarez had said that he wanted to leave England due to the pressure put on him and his family by the media in the country and if he simply moved to another club in the Premier League it would make that claim seem to be dishonest. It certainly wouldn't go down well with Liverpool fans.

What wouldn't go down well even more is a move to Chelsea and according to AS in Spain tonight, that's almost completed. They say that a €40m move is on the verge of being finalised and that Luis Suarez is set to become a Chelsea player. They go further and explain that it would help Jose Mourinho get one over on his old club Real Madrid who had reported to have been interested themselves.

Suarez's agent, Pere Guardiola, is mentioned which is maybe where the Spanish connection comes in and AS say that the player would earn €5.5m a year at Stamford Bridge.

It doesn't appear to add up, AS put the article out on their English and Spanish sites at roughly the same time and there's usually quite a lag between the two, it's almost like someone wants it to be a big story in England. Surely Liverpool wouldn't sell their best player to Chelsea, knowing the trouble that it would bring?

AS aren't big fans of Jose Mourinho so it seems odd that they'd so happily explain that Jose Mourinho was getting one over on their beloved Real Madrid, if it was true.

And the amount regarding wages seems too low too, it would work out at around £90,000 a week and even if that was tax free, it's not that much in the scheme of a huge move from Liverpool to Chelsea, as Fernando Torres would be able to explain.

This appears to be an agent trying to get his client right back into the rumour mill, and a more conventional way of doing it than the player himself speaking out. On the other hand it could be that Chelsea feel they have lost out on Cavani and want a big signing.

It all sounds a little crazy.

It'll be Mkhitaryan and if they sell Suarez they'll probably push hard for Villa, which sucks for us.

Switzerland international Johan Djourou has joined German club Hamburg on a season-long loan from Arsenal with the option to make the deal permanent.

The defender made two first-team appearances for Arsenal last season and returns to the Bundesliga following a six-month spell on loan at Hannover.

Djourou, 26, was signed by Arsenal from Swiss side Etoile Carouge in 2003.

Arsenal have also let versatile midfielder Francis Coquelin, 22, join Freiburg on loan for 12 months.

France Under-21 international Coquelin, who spent the 2010-11 campaign on loan at French club Lorient, made 22 appearances for Arsenal last season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger signed Coquelin from Laval as a 17-year-old in 2008 and handed the youngster a long-term contract in January 2012.

Must be really frustrating for Chelsea. Here they are trying to do things the right way, waiting out Napoli to bring their asking price down for Cavani so that they can get him at a reasonable £45m or something like that - they have to live within their means. But oh no, in swoops PSG with their oil money that they can just throw around like it's confetti.

Football can be so unfair sometimes...

Dont worry they have brought somebody else today they can loan straight out, they havent done that for a week or so

I thought Altidore looked good at Hull but was too raw. Had good approach play, good movement and got involved in general play but he would snatch at shots.

I see another 2 of Arsenal's wunderkids from a few years back have gone out on season long loans, Coquelin and Djourou

I thought they were going to win everything with how good that group was I mean they beat league 1 and 2 teams in the coca cold cup

I wonder if the Dortmund scouts share a car with ours whilst they follow the Liverpool ones around

They, like us, had never heard of the player at the start of the transfer window of course.

After our scout scout, the guy from the pub we have reading the newsnow liverpool feed on his iphone whilst sitting in a tree outside Melwood with binoculars discovered that Liverpool wanted Mkhitaryan he called Levy and of course we went straight for him. AVB and Baldini looked him up on FM and thought he looked alright. After talking to his representatives it was obvious that he preferred going to Liverpool. We tried the trick that worked with Sig, offering him tons of money, but Mkhitaryan had a lot of integrity and chose Liverpool over us.

Levy is a vindictive bastard though and having found out about this guy called Klopp from watching the CL final he called them up to let them know that Liverpool target Mkhitaryan was on the move. Dortmund had no idea, they've been signing duds like Gundogan, Reus, Hummels and Lewandowski under Klopp so it's not like they know what's going on. Finding out that Liverpool had identified the player, knowing their transfer history with players like Carroll and Henderson they of course got straight to it and called up Shaktar.

The player of course still wanted to sign for Liverpool, Dortmund were only the CL finalists and 2nd in the Bundesliga whilst Liverpool have qualified for the League Cup next season. But the Shaktar president didn't want to lose face by selling the player to a non-CL club, so he rejected the move to Liverpool leaving the player with only one choice.

All of this from the usual source.

But but but but the media and their fans promised they would be amazing and challenge for everything and win loads of trophies, epic fail...

In recent years? There was never a golden age a la Man Utd.

They have been as successful as any other club despite Le Professeur's media reputation for being wunderbar with der kinder.
