I agree that today was absolutely awwwwwwwwwful, but how exactly has Big Sam out thought AVB here? It's hardly stunningly new tactical innovation, to go to a top side when you are a mid table team and park the bus. And if the didn't have a striker in the squad, it's natural to go 4-6-0.
We played the way we would if we would have won the game, in terms of set up. The selection was fine. It was just an awful, awful day. The players weren't at it. I put it down to a terrible day at the office, that can happen.
Doesn't mean all these sweeping statements need to be made. AVB is bad, Soldado is bad, Defoe is bad blah blah blah. Today felt like the Fulham game at home last year, where we just weren't at it. I think the weakness in the squad at full back was exposed today. Walker looked injured and that done us. That uncertainty and lack of being bang at it spread to the rest of the team. I'm sure of that.
