OMT Tottenham v Gillingham - League Cup

Sorry but even relatively meaningless is complete cobblers. The club needs to win something this decade or we have completely fudgeed it.

My thoughts as well, i hate the way that in todays game there is more desire from some fans to finish among the losers ( top four) then actually winning something.

I think that fans are just responding to what are clearly the priorities of PL clubs. Many PL clubs would happily scrap this competition or limit it to clubs not in Europe.

PL clubs priorities are staying in the PL and then qualifying for the CL. The rest is a bonus to them but not a lot more.

Two channels listed as showing tomorrow's game, both called Super Sport 2. One is South African and the other one could be Albanian based on the satellite, but I couldn't find any more info. Could be some water flowing.

I do not disagree with what you say there, hense the reason i say i hate what football is about in todays game. After all the purpose of any game/sport is to win things.

I feel more upset about the FA Cup being devalued than the league cup but I get what you mean. There was a time when I could've listed the winners going back decades, I'd struggle to name the last couple now.

I know its the modern game, but as i say i have played/watched/ worked in sport most of my life and in all that time the/any game purpose was to win something. We have taken the tinkle out of the Arse for years about winning nothing but so many fans of ours say the lossers spot is more important then winning a cup. As for the FA Cup i do agree with you over that, the two things i used to look forward to in the football calender was always the first game of the season and the second was the 3rd round day of the FA Cup.

Madness ( imo).

Fecks me right off when the last few Spurs managers including Poch say that the competition is important then put out a weakened team for League Cup and FA cup games. Silverware is silverware, end of story, and winning big games is a habit we need to get into.

Neither cup is a priority for a manager of a top (or relegation threatened) side until at least the quarter finals.

The money that can be earned from the PL and CL have completely distorted the domestic game.

Fringe squad players need games and you cannot player your best players in every game, so it is easy to see why we have ended up where we have.

I think a trophy this season would do good things for our players development - though i do agree the domestic cups are very much 3rd and 4th priority (until the latter stages)

That's probably more the case of your memory (or lack of) than the importance of the competition :D:p

Way back in the depths of time (well the 70s/80s) the FA Cup was one of the few live games you got to see on TV... we are spoilt wrotten now with wall to wall footie, (last night I could have watched German, Italian or French league football on BT Sport) and that has taken away the magic of the cup... I can remember that hoping Spurs might get to the Cup Final was as much about being able to see a whole 90 minute game featuring Spurs as it was winning silverware!!!

The important list is:

2015 - someone better than us
2014 - someone better than us

2012 - someone better than us
2011 - someone better than us
2010 - someone better than us
