*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool FC ***

Agreed. You look at Spurs, we should be 6th or 7th in the league based on resources. Where we are now is ahead of that so Ange, big picture, is doing a good job. I wonder where some of the people who think we’re underachieving think we should be and what that’s based on.

You have to take into account Chelsea and United being in an even bigger mess.

League position is ok ish, I’m more concerned with the form since Christmas and decline of performances both individually and as a team.

I’m terrified we’ll start next season in the same way.

So he’s doing a better job than ETH and Poch this season. That’s a plus for Ange in my book.

The concerns are merited, I have many of the same concerns myself. But, personally, I’ve got to remind myself of where he is relative to my expectations at the start of the season and he’s comfortably ahead.

If we start next season the way we’re finishing this, which is a possibility, I’d still give him time as long as we aren’t fighting relegation.

You do realise that statement in itself smacks of entitlement?

Expectation is different to entitlement. It's not unreasonable for a club our size with the monies available to expect some modicum of achievement. 31 years of failure points to an underlying problem. Again. I don't wonder why this has happened.

ETH is a terrible manager, Poch has his issues and is at a club in chaos, I’d expect Sherwood to do a better job than those two. It’s the lowest of low bars.

We’ve been in relegation form for a couple of months.

Just watched the MOTD2 highlights. Worth looking again at the build-up to the Liverpool second goal. Keep a particular eye on Bentancur, who is a good example of a player who either doesn’t know what he should be doing, can’t do it, or can’t be arsed - I’m not sure which.

He’s not the only one; but the way he is ambling around doing nothing in particular is embarrassing.
Thought Kulu was poor for that goal. Robinson and Gakpo were down our right and he walks away from them into the centre instead of covering Robinson.

They're both good managers which is why they are at big clubs.

We haven't been in relegation form at all. We've been in mid-table form but you have to judge the season as a whole.

Agreed, you do have to judge the season as a whole…BUT it’s worrying to see results and performances get worse the longer the manager has to implement his methods. I think that’s probably what’s causing the major worries. Surely it’s the reverse of what can be expected?

That’s what happened for Klopp and Arteta too
Pep started great at city and then his form then went all over the place with random results

Not far off relegation form. 32 points in the last 25 games! Add that form to the first 10, and we'd be sat on 44 points. That's pretty terrible! Would put us level with Fulham in 13th!

So nowhere near relegation. Luton are on 26 points. It’s mid table form.

I’m not saying it’s good but it’s factually an exaggeration to say it’s relegation form.

Yeah, people forget that Pep started great and then there was a dip in form, much like us. That first season he managed 66 points, which is where we're likely to end up. So don't let the great start to the season change the narrative. It takes time and there are ups and downs that are not always linear.

His form dropped after we beat them
And then it was random
Artetas was too (I posted that yesterday)
People say he won the FA cup which is true but he got them knocked out of Europa which was a weak competition … losing at home to Olympikos who were brick (wolves did better and so did rangers)
He also took them down the league from the previous season and emery had them 8th when he was sacked …

Since the start of April we have amassed the 18th highest points total.

Was it peps first season where he started brilliant, drew at Celtic park in the CL, lost to us that weekend and then went on a downward spiral?
