OMT: Might Spurs v Coventry Wednesday 18 September, kick-off 8pm

There is clearly an issue with the players playing the system which has been designed and coached. I am not sure what's going on, but the fear is palpable.
Ange said he was to blame and he would take the stick for mistakes. That works well when we're winning and things generally are looking OK.
But when you start losing more games, often because of individual mistakes, players will naturally take less risk, which destroys this system, and directly leads to us being toothless going forward, and more vulnerable in defence, which leads to goals against, which makes players even more reluctant.
It's a vicious circle, and the only remidy is winning, I think. A piece of luck, like yesterday, might get us kick on a bit.

I hope.

Not bothered about the performance to be honest, since day dot when a manager makes that many changes you get that sort of display. What I'm more bothered about is why he chose to pick that team in the first place after what happened at Fulham last season.

That being said, there is something a little funny and ironic with people whinging on here when we are the better team and don't win, then complain when we aren't the better team with a real mish mash of a line up and win.....

Ange got very very lucky lastnight
Making wholesale changes just doesn't work, it never has for us and never will
So many looking so badly out of form
But we spawned a win and are through

I belive its flimflam and a bad call to change 8 players for cup games, I get resting players is important but you dont get a flow and the second string dont get a real chance.

Solanke
Odo-bergvald-sarr-gray-Johnson
Udogie-VDV-Dragu-Spence
Vic
Would give Bergvald, Gray, Spence and Dragu a chance.
I belive you dont get any answers changing 8 player other than resting players
Tend to agree but I also feel even if our first team started it would have been much of the same

Can't believe how badly off form Sarr, Bentacur are currently too
Bergvall lost the ball a few times but he was always wanting the ball, trying to pass it forward and make something happen
Thought Gray did good too

I did wonder earlier in the thread why, when we were doing well last season, the first touch and first intention was always ultra positive and now it's very cautious and safe. Another poster suggested that perhaps the players are terrified of the consequences of taking those risks because we're so exposed at the back.

It's as good an explanation as I've seen because there is a massive difference in our mindset compared to early last season IMO.

T U R G I ....

and then werno-use went and on came DeKu

They played well, certainly better than us, so it's us picking their pocket methinks.

Where did Gray play?

RB
I thought he looked ok. Definitely a lot of work to go, but some promising signs.
Caught out a couple of times, but looked comfortable on the ball and at least at the start of the game wanted the ball.

I want to see him play as a CM though.
Porro and Spence should be the RB options.

Bleep me, that was grim to watch....if we play like that on Saturday i can see Frank really destroying us with his fast-break and set-piece tactics.

That was probably the worst we've looked since the really grim end-of-Jose days....
The players are CLEARLY to scared to lose the ball and don't believe the system sets s up well.
I'm sure they also lose faith when they see Forster in goal be calamitous and then Davies do what Davies often does.

I also suspect any players 'stepping-up' would mean they effectively ignore Ange's current coaching/tactics. Not a great place to be in - unless Ange can change....

I'm going on Saturday, hopefully we see a bit of a rebirth. With the number of games coming up it would be timely (and needed!)

Hardly played poorly against Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Leicester we just couldn’t score.
"Couldn't score" is part of playing poorly. Toothless în attack. Just passing the ball around with no end product means playing poorly.
