You can disagree all you like, but those are the facts. We've seen it numerous times, fielding a strong team against lower league opposition, and we've looked exactly like we did against Coventry. There's no denying that. And in all those games, people have been moaning about not playing youngster and fringe players, as those would surely put in more effort.
It's the mindset that is wrong. Maybe not intentionally, but I'm pretty sure it's different than when facing City or similar.
It creeps into the back of the head.
And when you then get on the back foot, it's difficult to recover.

Just had a look at the Cov goal again. What a load of old crap defensively. The full-back system giving them acres down our right. Also, WTF is that from Davies? Another foot race that he's come third in. I'm sure fans will talk about his goal saving block. They won't mention how bad his defending was for the goal. Just confirms even further that he's not at the level required, especially as he's supposed to be VDV's replacement.

If VDV doesn’t play we shouldn’t play the high line.

If you listed every centre half in the PL including squad players, Davies would be in the lowest percentile of them when it comes to defending that counter attack we faced. Most would have had the recovery speed to intercept that pass in from our right. It's made even worse that he is a left footer coming over to ball that he should get to and clear with his right foot. He came up hopelessly short.

In a minute, someone will say "not bad for a makeshift centre half" !!!

When we move to the next level, these moments will disappear as these mediocre players are moved on. Great servant, great guy....but mediocre.

Davies is 31. I expect him to be slower. He is not a starter for Spurs. Yes in our system of play, he has weaknesses like all other players. The play was faster than him. It happens. Move on.

Yes, I absolutely want to move on from the average players that have created average results for 5 years. That was my point about Davies in the first place. I guess we have to wait for his eventual replacement to come in. I'm still hoping we solve it with Phillips, Dorrington, Vuskovic etc.
