First season had lots of gratuitus sex scenes involving very attractive women. Second season has gratuitus sex scenes involving some absolute mingers. Whats that all about? Lena Headey would get it, mind!

And here we have some more genius from the pen of Aaron Sorkin - West Wing
...

For those of you that not watched it I seriously recommend The West Wing

The West Wing was one of the best shows Ive ever seen, absolutely brilliant...

I finished watching season 5 of The West Wing last month and whilst it had its moments it was noticeably inferior to the first 4, clearly suffering from the absence of Sorkin' genius when it comes to dialogue.

The Supremes was the best episode of S5 but was immediately followed by the dire Access which was the worst imv.

crazy arse bastard...HBO's production values are excellent. watch season 2.

thrones is also just getting better and better..

Watched season 2 of Rome last week, a shame that (like Deadwood) they cancelled the show in its prime. As the whole Anthony and Cleopatra storyline could have made for another great couple of seasons.

i still keep both seasons on hd and watch them every couple of years. i think with its huge costs hbo just could not afford to produce a third season even with such critical acclaim.

Anyone watch the Dambusters programme in the BBC Timewatch strand last night? (Dam Busters: The Race to Smash the German Dams) Interesting revisionist view of the success of the raids. Historically they had been written off as not having much impact, but view last night was that the engineers/labour needed to rebuild them in 5 months impacted and delayed the construction of the Atlantic Wall prior to D-day. Not heard that view before.

if you like buddy shows, check out terriers. only 1 season unfortunately but pretty good

Few questions about The Wire

Started watching the pilot last night (having been told numerous times on here it's an absolute must see) and I must say thought it was absolutely utterly poor and borderline toilet. Am I missing something here?

Every second word was either 'fudge' or 'brick' and the cast appeared pathetically shallow and most of the characters physically repulsive

There was an older male who appeared to shove a phone down his crotch screaming at the other fella he should eat his dingdong and asked him if he 'could hear it'? :|

Stopped it after 30 mins as the dialogue was unbearble due it being littered with 90% profanities and sounded as sophisticated as a caveman' Sunday afternoon. I enjoy real-life drama series and crime stories but this was fudging ridiculous.

Now, this show has been hailed as one of the greatest by many on here so let me ask the following

- Does the dialogue improve later on or is this the common theme throughout - the equivalent of listening to very cheap hip-hop album?

- Does the story itself improve and offer at the very least some depth or intrigue beyond what appearde to be 'war on drugs'

Or is this another Anchorman?

To answer both questions: Yes.

The first season is well known to be a very slow burner, I would insist on sticking with it, it takes a good 5 maybe 6 episodes for the first season to get going and from there it is gold all the way through to episode 10 of Season 5.

Drugs isn't the only theme but it is present throughout the whole show, I'm not from the backstreets of Baltimore but I assume its a massive issue in that part of the world.

The wire needs about 7/8 episodes then it gets you hooked. By the third season you're as addicted to it as bubs is addicted to smack. Omar is the best character to ever be on tv. By the fifth season you wish it would never end but you know it will.

started on Alcatraz..another one that got cancelled. the blonde has some major boobs. now that she's free, should cast her on Thrones & get her nekkid.
