Just finished Season 4 of The Mentalist

Few questions / observations

- If Red John is so fudging powerful and connected within the CBI, FBI, White House, etc. - why doesn't he simply kill everyone in Jane's unit in order to compound his suffering since they are his closest friends at the moment (only familiy-like figures left). Lisbon at the very least (terrible actress btw and an extremely limited character in the show)

- Why aren't the FBI actively looking for him since a serial killer of his porportions would be a national problem surely?

- I thought it was a terrible season all in all - way too many fillers and a predictable story line for the rest. It was obvious from Day 1 the new CBI boss was a snitch / Red John disciple / qunt

I see it has been officially renewed for another season (5) and hopefully one of more suspense and story depth. It largerly feels they've run out of ideas and 2 episodes before the season ends Red John miraculously appears and baits Jane in order to re-spark viewers interest for the finale. Poor.

They've stretched the Red John suspense for too long now, imv and need to conclude next season or risk losing major viewing numbers. Crying wolf too many times comes to mind

Meh

Has anyone been watching Person of interest?

Its a bit slow to start but the premise is good (a bit minority report - like) and is produced/written by the guy who did lost and Christopher Nolans brother.

The first season is available in one hit on Pirate bay/ISO hunt

I miss Breaking Bad

Have just got to end of series 4 - the best tv show probably ever imho. Only one more to go and then it's over for good. Amazingly enough, the US viewing figures were incredibly low - suckers. If only we Brits could genuinely produce something of such depth and detail. At the moment, the BBC will only stretch to 6 or 7 episode commissioning blocks. Paul Abbott managed to push it with Shameless (arguable quality now though and maybe for some time) and get it from 7 to 8 to 11 to 16 to 22 on Ch4 but noone else has managed it. I know this for a fact, BBC commissioning doesn't think British audiences can take long-form drama. They're wrong aren't they.

One of my very all time favourite dramas is the West Wing, which at its very best was written by Aaron Sorkin, arguably one of the very best writers on American television. Well Mr Sorkin has a new gig this summer and I am really looking forward to it

And here we have some more genius from the pen of Aaron Sorkin - West Wing

For those of you that not watched it I seriously recommend The West Wing

Noooo! That sucks. Thought it was really good. They didn't do a very good you introducing you to it in the beginning, but it was really entertaining.

One of the few shows with some really creative and clever writing. Not just remaking episodes from other shows.

The Fish Market: Inside Billingsgate - excellent documentary on BBC HD

This is the first episode of three. Next one is on Thursday at 9pm:

The Meat Market: Inside Smithfields

Highly recommended \o/
