O/T Capello Resigns / New England Manager Speculation Thread

Sorry, mate - no access to that at the moment

Roy, this started long ago when he first made sounds he'd love the job, etc after the media destroyed Capello following the WC. We are now simply entering the final stage of the process which was initiated 2 years ago. As long as he stays on till May - couldn't give a fcuk

I definitely think ppl are thinking the world will end if Redknapp goes. No one knows that for sure. The new gaffer could come in and take us on even further for all we know.

Absolutely.

I think its natural for people to fear the worst, but this is as much an opportunity as it is a crisis (if he leaves)

I've just had a browse on SSN's website and there is about 30 separate articles from different managers, players, pundits, common plebs and groundsmen all saying the same thing - Arry for England

WHAT THE FCUK? Why is this allowed during the most improtant part of the season? As if the court case wasn't enough distraction and now this rubbish?

Fcuk everyone who contributed in the cycle which lead to this

Why isn't Levy issuing a statement telling all maggots to back off and he's under contract with Tottenham Hotspur FC

Indeed, but I think it's just the uncertainty just at a point when we're doing well that gets people jittery. We know that Harry has been doing a great job and that he's likely to continue doing a great job. No matter who they bring in to replace Harry, there's a chance it could go all Santini on us! But like you said, for all we know this will work out perfectly and the person who replaces Harry will take us on to even greater heights.

Ferguson can shut up too. Saying he definitely thinks Redknapp is the right man for the job.

Also just heard KKK's interview. Has there ever been a manager that annoys you so much in interviews? He thinks he's sarcastic but comes across a bell end. Sounded pished too.

im sick of all this already. Hopefully the FA make the approach ASAP, if he wants it he accepts to take over once the the Prem season is over and then a new chapter for all begins.

Unless Hiddink is going through Customs in as we chat - doubt anyone of similar ability would be available on such a short term in the middle of Feb

Unless Capello does the swap! :ross:

I am under no illusions Arcy, never have been.

I dont hold it against REdknapp at all, not bitter in the slightest, just watching it unfold now...

Of course - simply find it disappointing so many people have come out of the cracks and are virtually demanding for him to take the job REGARDLESS of the fact he happens to be managing us on our first realistic title charge in 30 years.

the most important part of the season is being spoilt by all this flimflam. Only at Tottenham, only could it happen at Tottenham

Harry was asked about his opinion on John Terry being stripped of captaincy

"Difficult one...you're trying to get me out of the job, before I get in it....."

Arc love ya mate but why is Hiddink considered the only manager out there who could take over at a level Harry has us in currently. Who thought Redknapp would do what he's done. Or Pardew would do what he's doing at the barcodes. Or Rodgers in the Premiership?

Gone

Thanks, big man. You gave me some of my best memories as a Spurs fan

I hope the media treat you better than Capello because after all they put you there

one thing is for sure, the FA have to think carefully about hiring a manager that so publicly speaks his mind.

ESPNsoccernet has been told Harry Redknapp will not walk out on Tottenham Hotspur mid-season because of his "loyalty to the club".

Redknapp remains the bookmakers' favourite to replace Fabio Capello but, with Spurs challenging at the top of the table, it remains doubtful as to whether he could balance the two jobs and he has no intention of leaving White Hart Lane at this stage.

"Let me tell you that he is not going anywhere right now, that's for sure," a source told ESPNsoccernet. "Harry is loyal to Tottenham, because they have been loyal to him, and he will not walk away, he will not walk out. Next season, who knows? He might fancy another crack at the Champions League."

Stuart Pearce has been installed as caretaker manager for this month's friendly with Netherlands, which could pave the way for Redknapp to take the job ahead of the warm-up matches with Norway and Belgium in May and June, but even then the FA may be thwarted if Spurs refuse to release their manager.

ESPNsoccernet can reveal that there is no release clause of ?ú5 million in Redknapp's contract, as has been reported.

Tottenham agreed a ?ú5 million fee with Portsmouth when Redknapp was appointed Spurs manager, and that amount plus compensation for the remaining 15 months of a ?ú3 million-a-year contract would be the starting point.

The FA is meeting on Friday to discuss candidates for the role and chairman David Bernstein had said during Thursday's press conference that "all options are open".

"We are not prepared to restrict ourselves at this stage," he said. "He might be English, he might be British, he might not be; he might be for the Euros only, he might be long-term. We need to look at all the options. It would be pointless, 24 hours or less after we have lost our manager, to start limiting ourselves."
